Book Review: Voyages into the Unknown by Bruce Moen

Book Review: Voyages into the Unknown

Bruce Moen’s book, Voyages into the Unknown is deep and profound, with it’s assay into the bottomless mysteries one might imagine when you dare to dive into Afterlife exploration.

Sometimes, the word for word familiarity was uncanny with things I have experienced–other times, passages or terms were, at least initially, way over my head. Yet, Bruce’s writing kept me intrigued from start to finish–though I’m not entirely finished, as there are more books in this series to eagerly inspect.

For those of us who love fiction based on true stories, enjoy deep and riveting mysteries, or simply have a passion to dig through the numerous tangles within our Connections, I believe you’ll find this a treasured book.

Voyages into the Unknown
Voyages into the Unknown

I have enjoyed the challenge and stretch Voyages has brought to my ever evolving consciousness.

Consciousness, as a topic and in all of its aspects, beckons me to study it further, not out of mere curiosity as much as out of this fantastical question of “where do I stop and you begin?” –and because of my mother, aunt, and grandmother all suffered with Alzheimer’s dis-ease. I am a sleuth of sorts, always and in ALL ways forward-thinking to try and solve the riddle of why we’re here.

You may also like my post, Expanding Consciousness here.

Connections

I came to know Bruce’s writing through his beloved wife, Pharon. And I desired to finish her husband’s book before embarking on a Sacred Celtic Journey with my husband (a journey that Pharon, Patricia McGivern, Kim Cintio, and several more would also join).

I met Pharon on my Sedona journey, and we have stayed connected since. But, I had not gotten to know Bruce before his passing, or crossing over beyond The Veil. And I wanted to learn about him and his Afterlife exploration from having attended his memorial service, or Celebration of Life.

In order to live a wholly vibrant life, I feel we must continually expand our awareness. And when I saw several people from Bruce’s past Afterlife exploration attend his service (from as far away as Japan), I knew I must read his books. I love reading books, but reading books by those I know (or know their family member) is a real thrill!

Synchronicities

I don’t want to reveal too much, but I thought you might be interested in a few inside peeks to see what engaged me so much!

I’ll share three relevancies or synchronicities that struck a chord within me as I read, Voyages into the Unknown:

1) “Bits and pieces that ring true to your own experience…” (Bits and Pieces was the name of an establishment in my hometown of which, I can’t explain much about except it intrigued me and I looked forward to going there for years. When I was finally old enough to get in, it had closed for business.)

2) “All the events of my life seem so woven together and interconnected…” (I probably don’t need to explain why this sentence resonated with me, but if I do, read this.)

3) A powerful explanation about reoccurring dreams and how many times we remember these dreams 30 or 40 years later!

Believe it or not – a key to healing

Bruce details in his book a question that I have pondered for years. Why some people can have spontaneous healing in their bodies, yet others not–and while I agree none of us can really know how much Faith a person has, I dare say that I’ve known many who displayed great Faith (especially believing for others), yet continued to personally suffer. A key answer to this perplexing conundrum is put forth in Voyages–and it relates to how each must believe within our own frame of reference for the body to accept the healing!!!

Fascinating topics

If you are fascinated by any of the following, I believe (no, I FEEL), that you’ll love Voyages into the Unknown:

  • Afterlife exploration
  • Astrology
  • Hypnosis
  • Numerology
  • Paranormal experiences
  • Past lives
  • Quantum entanglement
  • Reincarnation

I wish for all of my readers to have fantastical synchronicities and experiences also!

Be open to receive.

Many blessings to you in ALL ways.

Amen and Namaste. OM

CD Review: Simple Truth by Shelley Morningsong will lighten and uplift

CD Review: Simple Truth

The following is my review of singer, writer, and soul-Connected sister-friend, Shelley Morningsong’s latest music CD: Simple Truth.

You can listen to the title track song on Shelley’s website here.

My readers know that I’ve reviewed Shelley Morningsong’s CD before and that I feel she and partner, Fabian Fontenelle, continue to authentically create spiritually uplifting and healing music that connect us with each other, as well as put us back in touch with our own souls. Anyone can listen to Simple Truth all the way through, and be moved.

Shelley’s powerful and rich vocals dive deep to our inner BEings, and stir our emotions.

Each of Shelley and Fabian’s CDs are masterfully produced, thus I feel all will richly enjoy listening. Put it on repeat. Listen intently or listen while working. Either way, you’ll receive the love put into each track on Simple Truth.

Simple Truth
CD: Simple Truth

Songs:

I Wanta Live opens with a single strong drumbeat to set the tone, and then the guitar comes in, following with Shelley’s powerful and rich voice. “Free my mind” she sings.  This song is an uplifting positive life affirmation. A positive message one can use to start each balanced day. Listen at any time to ground and center yourself.

Fatherless Child feels like a true and heartfelt story. I pick up some old blues in this, as it’s a slower tempo. This has clear guitar riffs and wonderful musicality. Shelley’s music is often full of deep emotion. And moving. This may bring tears if you’ve been in or known anyone in a similar situation. All are worthy of love. ❤️

Love Brought You Here is a favorite of mine and I’m not always a fan of duets, however this one is exceptional. The production on this love song is superb! Elements of soul and easy listening. A gentle piano and orchestra arrangement. And vocals that blend exquisitely. Where ever each of us has been, love has brought you here, indeed.

As I listen to the title track, Simple Truth I remember sitting outside on the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona and contemplating my life.  This song beckons us to embrace each day and all lessons. Take time to stop and smell the roses. Appreciate yourself for who you’ve become. Appreciate your family, friends, and neighbors.

Amazing Grace Interlude is a short folksy kind of instrumental of the classic spiritual tune.

Wade In The Water is a cover of a classic spiritual / blues song. I so love Shelley’s smooth voice. I’d never heard this song before, but the more I hear it, the more I enjoy it.

Soul Tie starts off with a rattle and guitar. Shelley paints an endearing story of abiding and timeless love. Soul to soul. We are knitted together and feel the ties. Kindred spirits, yes. Overlapping vocals embellish this elegant tune.

Quiet Place opens with guitar or dobro, which to my ear, lends a beautiful ancient Native American sound. The melody feels familiar. We can wait out any storm with Shelley listening to this track.

In California Dreaming, we hear Shelley’s version of this 1965 song originally written by John and Michelle Phillips and was a hit for the Mamas and the Papas.

With Good Day To Live, beautiful guitar opens and Shelley brings us in with her rich voice and story about it being a good day to live, no matter the season or circumstance. Forgive, let go, because life’s short. We love the melody and guitar work. Aho!

Finding My Way finishes off this CD with organ, piano, and Shelley’s Native American flute. A gentle healing song with an uplifting message. Forward progress promoted. No fear. Shelley encourages us to find and believe in the possibilities.

Overall, I have played Simple Truth from start to finish, even putting on repeat. It’s full of refined and graceful musical wisdom. I feel it’s a CD with which you can heal, and awaken.

Remember, We Are All Connected. Whether we have physical eyes to see or not, our loved ones stand with us. We are powerful and more loved than we may know. We Are All Related.

CD Review: Full Circle by Shelley Morningsong is energizing and heart-opening!

The following is my review of singer, writer, and soul-Connected friend, Shelley Morningsong’s music CD: Full Circle.

Shelley Morningsong and Fabian Fontenelle, have created deep and genuinely healing music that reach out to connect with our souls. Those of us who are open and warm-hearted passionately resonate with this Full Circle CD.

Shelley and Fabian have strong and smooth vocals, that play and blend melodiously. When Fabian joins Shelley, their honest voices produce an effect that seems to reach right into the soul.

Each of Shelley and Fabian’s CDs are masterfully produced, thus I feel anyone – even if you’ve never bought a Native American CD before – will richly enjoy these.

I believe you’ll love listening to Full Circle all the way through, the same as I wrote about Love Medicine. And while playing their Sacred Mother CD–from beginning to end–I put it on repeat when in a contemplative mood.

fullcircle-insertv24.jpg

Songs:

Return is a contemporary piece that employs, guitar, drums, percussion, and flute. Shelley sings with melodious power and strength. This song is an earnest call, a prayer. Beautiful musical wisdom with which you can flow, sway, heal, and awaken.

Crazy Johnny If you’ve ever been down, or know someone who’s been misunderstood, then saved – this song will resonate. A touching story that I had never heard put to song before. It is moving.

The only instrumental on the CD, Morning Song is blissful with its native flute and light rattle. It offers us a rich and introspective way to start each blessed day. Listen at any time you feel upset or off balance, to ground and center yourself.

Everything is One Thing is a favorite of ours. If you’ve been reading my blog posts for any length of time, you’ll know why. The song begins with a gentle flute, setting the stage beautifully for Shelley’s deep and inspirational words. This important song beckons us to unify and join together for the sake of ALL. We Are All Connected. We Are All Related. OM

Every time I listen to Slow and Gentle I think of how much I have learned about relationships and love. Yes, for some of us, the road to real love has been long, full of challenges and heartache. But, this is a love song. A warm and beautifully played native flute opens this song and Shelley’s voice steps in to tell the story. Shelley’s graceful flute comes back in the end.

I’m a Warrior evokes a deep and thought provoking survival story. It will summon profound strength from within your soul. When the drums step in, and Fabian’s voice–be empowered. Know this: You can do this. You’ve got this!

The CD’s title track is: Full Circle. This song rocks! Shelley’s soul-reaching and meaningful lyrics about life (and how each of us learn lessons along the way) make this a stand out song. The musical influences are mixed, so you can appreciate the Native American tones and enjoy this as you would any contemporary song on the radio.

Invisible People brings us several touching stories about people from different walks of life who for one reason or another seem to be down and out. The message of this song invites each of us to not only see the invisible people, but also to do something–if we can, and if they are open to receive.

Show Me Love opens with a gentle guitar and Shelley singing lyrics that paint a picturesque view and flow over us with a hopeful call for love. Fabian joins in too!

In Mustang, Fabian opens this song with the story of wild and strong mustang horses. Backed by Spanish guitar, Shelley joins in to complete this amazing and aWEsOMe song that ends with the voices from the mustangs.

Meet vibrant artist, Brenda Robinson!

I had the most energy-filled, vibrant, and nurturing of interviews with artist and soul-connected friend, Brenda Robinson.

Brenda Robinson.jpg

You see, I’d met Brenda a few months ago when we took a class with Michelle Giambra at Suncoast Jin Shin Jyutsu in Sarasota. And from our initial meeting I had felt a connectedness with her, but I didn’t know why. Before we left that day, she had shown Michelle and I a recent copy of one of her paintings and it literally sent a rush of energy through my body, yes, just holding that piece of paper! I’d never felt, what I term as “God bumps“, just from holding a piece of paper before, so immediately I knew there was something special here–and that I wanted to speak with Brenda more about her art.

When I learned that Brenda was showing her art at a new gallery in Lakewood Ranch, I knew it would be a great time to go see her, and hopefully interview her about her beautiful and colorful artwork.

Our Divine Beings DNA flows through all of us.jpg

I only had to ask Brenda one question and our conversation flowed with so much ease and connectedness that she nearly answered all of my questions without my needing to ask many more.

So, what was that first question?

Well, I asked Brenda what inspires her when she gets up in the morning to create her art, does a muse strike, or does an idea come when she sits down with a blank canvas?

In Brenda’s humble and gracious answer, she said:

To sit down with a blank canvas is the scariest thing, and I fought that for a long, long time.

I used to do workshops creating altered books by taking old, unloved, throw-away books and turning them into beautiful works of art. The ultimate in recycling.

One of the first books I found at Goodwill was called, “Jumping for Joy” and after altering it and turning it into a beautiful art-filled memory, I painted the cover blue.

Some books have old, thin pages, or new books with flimsy pages or unstable spines. So, you take these kinds of otherwise unusable books, and glue pages together, or staple or sew on them, and draw or paint on them. You’ll blank out some of the words you don’t need or want, paint on the page, write on the painted page and create a journal, put your own photos inside, rendering a new kind of artwork.

I got a bit caught up in the moment when we talked about drawing though, because I’ve never considered myself as able to draw (as I’m married to a man who can draw, hence, I understand the ability and talent involved in that). So, when I told Brenda that I can’t draw she was quick to say, “Yes, you can”, “Oh, yes, you can draw.” And proceeded to give me all kinds of tips to inspire me to start–even after we concluded our interview.

Brenda really has a way of making you feel that you can do what she does! She told me a face I might draw will be my face, different from the way someone else would draw a face. Just like, God made a leaf, then any leaf I would draw would be my leaf, my interpretation of that leaf. Ahh! What an eye-opening moment for me!

Continuing on, Brenda explained,

I painted a dog for Southeastern Guide Dogs “Heroes on Parade” last year, and by the way, “Doc” came in third place out of over 50 painted dogs. He is now living in the lobby of Doctor’s Hospital, bringing joy to all who come into the front lobby. During that project, I had all this paint so I started slapping the paint on canvases and started making my imaginary flower garden. In this case, the Superhero dogs were my muse. Now, I’m not a landscape or flower type artist, and a purist probably wouldn’t like my flowers because my rose wouldn’t look like their rose.

What style or type of art do you like?

I love Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (the French post-Impressionist artist). If you look at his work, and the colors he uses, he was inspired by the gorgeous colors of Tahiti, it’s people and environment. I like Monet and all the texture of the impressionists. There was movement in their art. I didn’t know that’s why I liked it. But, it spoke to me.

Some of my all time favorite artists are: collagist, Romare Bearden, story teller and installation artist, Whitfield Lovell, and the multicolored art of Louis Delsarte.

I continue to be inspired by other contemporary artists that are too numerous to mention.

My art breathes and tells a story, there’s always a story. There is life in that memory of remembering.

Going back to the altered books.

One of the first things I used was the old time handkerchiefs that we used to iron because they brought me joy, and this book was filled with all of the symbols of what was joyful to me.

I used one with decorative edges. Fun! Also, I love butterflies, so I cut the shape of a butterfly within many of the pasted pages using an X-Acto knife and cut it so the wings would flutter. There were pages that were glued together. Some pages contained Bible verses, and song titles, such as my mother’s favorite song, “In the Garden.” [Author’s note: That was also my mother’s favorite song! Ah, synchronicity!]

There were pages with rocks on them and the words, “If you don’t praise Him the rocks will cry out to Him” and put angels on it too. One of the pages had blood on it, so I added the words, “The debt was paid in full” with a receipt from one of those receipt booklets added to the page.

Another cool thing about creating these altered books was that we’d have a group of seven people and we’d send our book to another and that person would take their turn to add to your book, and so on to another person. When you’d get your book back you’d have seven different people’s art in your book. I still have almost all of those altered books!

Now, some people don’t have patience, or want to be too exact. But not me, I’m free flowing and easy about it. If I thought I did something wrong or didn’t like what I’d created, I would just paint over it!

We looked at several of Brenda’s paintings and discussed what we see in each of them. Everyone sees different things in art, which is why I love it so much, and this is something (among many things) that Brenda and I share in common.

Brenda’s work is always spiritual. In her own words,

Painting is praying with my heart and hands. Using them to help the viewer see the common threads between us all.

God is the ultimate creator, we are made in His image. And He’s given us the glorious task of representing him on earth.

I paint how it feels to me to listen to a beautiful song, what joy feels like, hope, sadness, or grief. Painting is my response to the messy middle of our color-filled world. Color is my way of communicating. I feel most alive when I am being creative and painting! I try to capture the energy of our common humanity, where we can connect our spirits through art and show that we are more alike than different. When I complete a piece of art, I am in awe of what my Creator has allowed me to share.

Most colorful angel.jpg

This morning, Brenda woke up with Marvin Gaye’s song on her mind, “What’s going on.” And that inspired her this morning. Whatever is going on in the community or the world right now, that’s what inspires her to paint. She writes prayers and verses on the canvas first, before she starts, and she’ll paint over them. It is important for her to have her DNA all over the canvas. And for me, as a writer and energy medicine person, the vibration of the words, they’re still there and they call me in.

I invite you to visit Brenda’s art display and spend some time to visit with her work and look for the aliveness she presents.

Please visit Brenda’s blog at: http://rubysdaughterbrenda.blogspot.com

Brenda’s website is: http://www.brendakrobinson.com

Brenda is currently displaying several pieces of her art at:

J & J Gallery

8131 Lakewood Main Street

Suite M-106 (It’s on the corner)

Lakewood Ranch, FL

941-444-6056

I must tell you that upon stepping into J & J Gallery, I was warmly greeted (by Judy, the owners mother), and I sensed a lightness. The gallery is very expansive and energetically inviting.

Before I left, I had the opportunity to talk with Judy about the opening of the gallery and several of the artists displaying works there. It is a family gallery, so you will not see nudes there. The gallery also looks for artworks that are of an uplifting and positive nature. Thus, my visit to J & J Gallery left me with a huge amount of heartfelt appreciation for the owners and the artists. I highly recommend you stop in for a visit.

Book review: Echoes From Punjab

Echoes from Punjab was a deeply moving and enchanting story to read! The following is my heartfelt book review:

As a reader and author of non-fiction works, I am delightfully surprised by this beautiful novel, which was so well written that it could be non-fiction!
From the velvety soft book cover, to the pacing, the story moves at such an elegant pace, it can keep a reader meaningfully engaged from beginning to end.
echoes-from-punjab-book-cover
As I read this endearing story, I learned some Indian words–even some new English words! I laughed, cried, and experienced many emotions–all the while I read about Jasmine’s journey.
Jasmine, the central figure and main character, has led a similar life to mine, except that I only moved to a different state in the USA, not to a completely different country (so obviously I did not have the racial or language challenges she had).
I so enjoyed the way the author interlaced descriptions of places in India, Indian history, and lots of Punjabi (the 10th most widely spoken language in the world) into her novel.
For example, in Chapter 2 – The Land of Milk and Honey, Daljit teaches us, “Tussi Punjabi ho” [you are Punjabi] as very early on in the story Jasmine meets a stranger in the U.S.A. who is also from Punjab. Somehow I knew I would love this book just by seeing the title of this chapter–as this is indeed what America is–The Land of Milk and Honey!
Speaking of favorites, Chapter 6 – The Twins knocked my socks off! My daughter is expecting twins and lives far from me, plus, I’d only recently learned of this glorious news when I began reading Echoes from Punjab! Obviously, synchronicity was working spectacularly for me! I read this chapter and the many to follow about Jasmine’s twins with eager excitement! I could really visualize so much of this story… Oh!! I love it so much!
I also truly grasped the richness of the vivid imagery the author detailed, both in the Indian scenes and in the northeastern U.S.A. Since, I lived a good many years of my life in the northeast, and traveled to many of the destinations that Daljit writes about, I had those scenes well set in my imagination. When she took me to India, a place I’ve only seen in many movies, well, I could paint them easily from her words.
What is hard to imagine is just how far away Punjab is from America. I’ve talked with several coworkers from India over the last few years who have tried to explain the travel time and how tiring it can be, so I have an inkling–but mostly it’s mind boggling to think about the actual distance, time, and money involved in the travel.
Chapter 9 with its aptly fitting title, The Journey, does its best to convey about the burdensome travel though. This chapter gives us shocking twists and turns in the drama of what is becoming Jasmine’s life–I won’t tell you what happens as I don’t want to spoil it for you–but I can say, that again, I’ve shared some of these life experiences and oh, how good it is to have them behind me!
On one particular page during The Journey, I can tell you that I absolutely agree that “I love my country as I love my mother but that does not mean I cannot see its shortcomings.”
I have so much respect and admiration for those who leave their home to go live in another country, as until I read Echoes from Punjab, I could barely imagine how one could be so far from loved ones, deal with a different language, culture, time zones, currency, racism, and so on! I have a hard enough time dealing with the fact that I have dear loved ones several states away from me within our own country, much less having to deal with all of those other pressures! I also believe one must really be dedicated to make such a sacrifice.
The Distressed Visit, Chapter 12 was intensely emotional for me. I was “with” Jasmine in every gut-wrenching moment! Having lost several friends in my life already, I know the pain of what she must have felt, and I grieved with her. When you have to say goodbye to friends, especially so far away, and when you have not seen them face to face in a long time, it can be especially difficult. Our family and friends are so important to us all! I think I now realize why so many people do not move away from their home places!
Chapter 20 – The Weddings, was as bright, light, and uplifting as The Distressed Visit was sad! Through Echoes from Punjab you get all of the ups, downs, good, not-so-good, colors, sounds, and intensity of life that one could want. I would smile and laugh, then reminisce of times gone by. I definitely could correlate several times of my life, alongside Jasmine’s up and down experiences. Thus, in the end, through sadness, grief, joy, and bewilderment, I shared her humanity. And I will be forever grateful to a new yet, dear friend who was thoughtful enough to gift me with this timeless book. (Thank you Rekha!)

Yes I am branching out a bit to review a music CD: Love Medicine. I cherish these vibrant and expressive songs! Shelley Morningsong and Fabian Fontenelle, have written masterful and touching music that speak to our hearts.

It is only difficult for me to find the words that fully express the resonance I feel when I listen to their original songs. Shelley’s deep and strong vocals, blend and flow perfectly with the music. As Fabian joins her, their melodious voices blend in such anaWEsOMe way! So much love, insight, and magic come through.

The Love Medicine CD is masterfully produced, beautifully sung, and harmoniously seamed together, that I feel anyone – even if you’ve never bought a Native American CD before – will enjoy it. Exquisite, inspiring, and heart-opening! Put the CD on and listen to it all the way through.

Songs:

We Didn’t Ask Why is a modern contemporary piece that employs, guitar, drums, flute, Fabian speaking, Shelley singing, and just the perfect amount of rattle. Fabulous vibe! Musical wisdom you can dance to – whether you just want to sway, belly dance, or rock out! 🙂

The CD’s namesake track is: Your Love, My Medicine. Fantastic! Really exotic sounds, beautiful and rich guitar, flute, drums, and Shelley’s haunting voice. Backing vocals accentuate and balance. Blissful. Lyrics paint a gorgeous picture. Purple sunset, wild horses, ah.

She Talks To The Animals is another lyrically wonderful song because as we listen, we can envision it as a movie scene. Is there violin on this song? Tremendous! I embrace this melodious journey. Storytellers will be enchanted by it. Gentle and easy story to sway with.

Every time I listen to the short Interlude songs (there are two), I think of my beautiful granddaughter and her innocent voice. Sweet.

Surrender invites us along for a deep and thought provoking journey. It will stir compassion within your soul.

Peace and Love is upbeat and vibrant! It definitely brings home it’s message to me. If you want to get people moving, this is the song you need to use for your lead in. Motivational speakers, check it out! Charity leaders, you could use this too! This is an anthem and needs to get OUT to everyone – aWEsOMe message!

Love Came To Rescue Me takes me back to when my husband and I met. Love the violin on their song! It’s just brilliantly played. If you’ve ever been down, or hurt… then saved – this song will resonate with you. This song is profoundly personal to me.

One by One is a hopeful and transformative song. It encourages us to teach our children to reach for the stars – yes! “Ripples on the water”, and other universal insights of vibration and connection resound in this song, so you know I delight in it! Yes a perfect song for us idealists. The musical influences are mixed, so you can appreciate the Native American tones and enjoy this as you would any contemporary song on the radio. It’s a delicious song of positivity! Another great anthem type of song that will inspire you to be your best! One by one we can change the world.

If you live anywhere close to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida you can see Shelley and Fabian in person! Check the Musical Echoes Flute and Cultural event website to find out all about it!

When my husband and I attended the Brooksville Native American festival (Feb. 7th, 2015), we were honored to meet Shelley and Fabian. They are down-to-earth, lovely, and genuine. Their love and caring for each other was very apparent. Also, their kindness and compassion shined for everyone who came to meet them, shake their hand, whether or not the person bought a CD or beaded purse.

I developed a strong desire to meet Shelley after watching a video of Fabian and her (Click here to see the video –> on YouTube), which totally clicked when Shelley spoke the words that I was given years ago, We Are All Connected.

We Are All Connected

I am of Cherokee Native American descent. I continue to learn and uncover more about my Native American heritage along with that of my Welsh (English), Dutch, Irish, and German lineage. I lovingly stand on many shoulders.

When the words, We Are All Connected, came to me many years ago, I sensed the direction of my life would change. The more I explore our connections the more rich and full life becomes! 🙂

My husband is a guitarist and songwriter and wrote the song, (Click here to hear the song track #2 –> The Connection) also based on these words.

I have written a book chapter (Click here –> We Are All Connected book chapter) and blog post (Click here –> We Are All Connected to read my blog post) in exploration of all the ways that we are all connected. To me, it’s an undeniable reality.

You may not think you have any Native American ancestry, but I am learning that many of us do! It’s worth exploring that aspect, if it interests you.

When you visit Shelley’s website be sure to scroll down, especially if you click on the Store or Gallery links, as there is much to see! Stay tuned for a review of Shelley’s, “Full Circle” CD.

Feeling the energy from our Breakthrough Performance Workshop Concert!

I did it! I sang on stage with a LIVE BAND! And they were a solid group of musicians and backup singers too! Believe it or not, I’m still feeling the energy from performing and from the audience!! Thank you again to all who joined us for that incredible night!

I just had the best rehearsal so far of our own original songs, The Connection and Wonderin‘ — I know it’s due to my having experienced Breakthrough!

The Breakthrough Performance Workshop, facilitated by Mick and Tess Pulver, allowed each willing participant to focus on sharing our authentic selves with each other, and with an audience. We touched aspects of self-exploration (in a mind body spirit way) while participating in their 8-week singing transformation program (find out more here: Breakthrough Performance Workshop).

Though I had sang years ago in church choir (and with a longtime friend as a duet), school choir, karaoke, and alongside my songwriter, guitarist/bassist husband at restaurants and home parties, I didn’t have the experience (until now) to sing on stage with a great live band! And it was an incredible life-enhancing experience!!

Mick and Tess were so supportive, Tess actually prepared me just before going on stage for my solo, by standing behind me, hands on my belly, and breathing WITH me! She was completely calming, enabled me to slow down, get present, and thoroughly enjoy singing my solo! There’s a clip of my solo on YouTube here: Breakthrough Performance 2016 Sheila M

This was abSOULutely a bucket list thing to do! And if you get the chance, DO IT!

I am continuing to experience many benefits from my concert experience, but here are a few:

  1. Being vulnerable on stage in front of a hundred+ people was so empowering! And I still feel the energy of it!
  2. My preconceived fears were NOT real. Remember, FEAR is just false evidence appearing real. You are NOT your fear!
  3. I totally felt integrated, breath, with mindful awareness, and ability to GIVE my authentic self to the audience.
  4. Singing brings me back to my breath, energizes yet soothes me (which I surmise will add more years to my life)!
  5. Has helped me feel even more comfortable when I speak with others at work.
  6. Add more joy and happiness to my day to day life!

Some of us will continue singing, with rehearsals continuing while Mick and Tess travel this summer (offering workshops in San Diego, California in the coming weeks).

I have learned so much through this program!

Building from what I learned from Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith’s program, I had two specific memories during THIS Breakthrough Performance Workshop program:

  1. That an old memory of being shushed for singing too loudly one evening (after something bad had happened earlier in the day) is no reason not to squelch my voice any longer! I can clear that memory, or the negative charge from it at least, and SING loud, NOW!
  2. That just because I wasn’t selected for senior high choir (it had come down to me or another girl–and the other girl was chosen) did not mean that I wasn’t good enough. Yes! I AM good enough, was good enough, and will always be “good enough”. I am me, and I am unique. I CAN do this!

I also learned that even if I’m hurt or sad, singing lifts my mood and improves my attitude. The more you practice getting breath into and through the body, the less tense you are, and the more your authentic voice can express your thoughts and emotions.

I hurt my neck before the concert and was singing through the pain! I chose to move in and through the experience as fully as possible, knowing it was the culmination of eight weeks of joyful work, and that I may never get that exact experience again. I’m so glad I allowed that. I told myself, I’m not bleeding so the show must go on! Ha!

Special thanks to my wonderful chiropractor, Dr. Len Bauduin, who got me readjusted and feeling great! Dr. Len Bauduin of Madeira Beach Center for Natural Medicine

My personal list of Thanks go out to friends and family who came out to support me and this show:

Yes I had a cheering section (what a feeling to hear people call out your name as you come on stage!!! whew!)

My always loving and soul supportive husband, Richard Murrey – you are my rock babeez!!!
Amber DiPietra and her mom (and was the FIRST person to buy her ticket online for this event as soon as they were available online!! Yes!!)
Alison J Kay (so happy you could join us, AND that you GOT the reason why I wore the sacral and solar plexus colors for my song!!! My full on energetic “shifter”, Energy Medicine doctor, ahhh love!!! Yes!!)
Dearest sister
Alania StarHawk, your presence–both you and Alison J Kay were the ones I had in mind and attention to while I was singing the line of my song for…”I’ve got to learn from the greats…” wow, so over the moon that you could BE there, AND that you brought another aWEsOMe pal Judith Ann Graham!!
Mary Ann Pickard I loved that you had so much fun and I’m so glad we had a few minutes to talk after!
Karen Peterson my soul sister and earth woman, green living, radical (that the world is naturally FULL of abundance) and powerful healer!

To the most supportive Sea Hut gang… ahhh you know we love YOU ALL: Debbie, Virginia, Amy Roger and Frank (thank you–to the four of you fantastic friends for taking Richard out pre-show for dinner while I was doing technical rehearsal with the band. You are all aWEsOMe!!!)

Patricia Leigh Allen and Edward Marriott (Thanks for aWEsOMe photos! You are a soul sweet guy! So “plugged in” to Source!)

…and new friends via the Breakthrough group: Carol Zerbarini and Maggie Bayliss our fabulous former Breakthrough Performance Workshop participants who came back to assist all of us!!!
