Primal Life Organics Carrot Seed Cleanser

Primal Life Organics has all the ingredient information and “how to use” on the link below. I am offering the “steps” here, so you can see how simple it is to use. (My way doesn’t have to be your way though. Life is an art!)

Step 1: Cleanse

  • Wet your face with water;
  • Shake the bottle of cleanser and then pour a dime size amount into one hand and rub it in your hands for a few seconds (to make it frothy and creamy);
  • Massage the luxurious creamy cleanser all over your face and throat. I massage down to the chest. What is left, I massage the back of my hands too!
  • Leave it on a few seconds or so and wipe off with a warm washcloth (so spa like)!

Step 2: Soothe

Note: I like applying the elixir (serum) just after washing my face because my skin is still damp. I tried it once after my face was dry, but for my aging skin, it just felt easier to glide it on moist skin.

  • Shake the bottle of elixir a bit and then pour a dime size amount into one hand, rub your hands together lightly to distribute the oil;
  • Massage the soothing serum all over your face and throat. Massage down to the chest. Use your jade roller or other facial tool at this time too!
  • Leave this on the skin to bathe your skin in beautiful healthy nutrients!

Step 3: Moisturize

I scoop out a dime or less of this moisturizer with the back of my fingernail, (or use a tiny plastic spoon from a previous herbal remedy), and rub this between my fingers and apply to the skin right over the serum.

  • Massage the creamy moisturizer (balm) all over your face and throat. Massage down to the chest.
  • Leave this on the skin to keep your skin glowing and soft all day!

I’ll post again in a few weeks to show the results! So far, I am really loving the products and their ease of use! Note: I am typically not a 3 part skin system person, so I am fascinated that these products have inspired me to perform this routine. ❤️😉

I sat in the dental chair and focused on my rose quartz heart (that I held in my hand), and I thought:

  • I love how the dental chair supports the weight of my body
  • How skilled and compassionate my oral surgeon is
  • How indeed the Universe supports me, etc., etc.
  • And for a brief moment, I felt my bluestone bracelet, and took a mental journey back to Stonehenge (where I had meditated sitting close to the bluestone)

And guess what?!?

I came out braver on the other side of it! Whew!

All was well. ALL is well!

But, there had been those moments. Moments of unnecessary tension. Moments of uncertainty. Lost moments, that I could have been IN joy, prayer for others, or gratitude for ALL I have!

For those who have trouble meditating

Do you have trouble meditating?

There is this one little physical thing you can do (that a massage therapist taught me years ago), when you are wanting to meditate, but feel that you can’t because your mind is racing.

I learned this one move, and have taught it to many other since, that helped me in the beginning when I couldn’t seem to meditate because my mind was always ON.

Try the following procedure and let me know if it helps.

Trouble meditating?

The procedure

Start by closing your eyes and rubbing two fingers (of each hand), up the bridge of both sides of your nose, and while maintaining the same pressure, move your fingers over and above your eye brows to make circles around yours eyes.

You can do this several times, and even go in reverse circles, lightening the pressure as you go.

As you notice your thoughts slowing down, you can stop this motion and relax your hands to your sides and then simply focus on your breathing.

The outcome

This one move really can ease the mind racing or mind chatter, especially when one begins learning meditation. Namaste. OM ❤️🦋🌀

It’s just hair

It’s just hair

I don’t know why we make such a big deal about hair. So, it frames our face. So what? And why all the countless hours, and money, spent on curling, smoothing, straightening, coloring, styling, cutting, combing, brushing, cussing, fussing, ranting, raving, and crying about it? Ugh! And then, ugh again.

I wonder how many of us would love to shave our head and start fresh and new again as when we were babies?

Well, when my son’s girlfriend recently suggested I explore the freedom of a shaved head, I asked myself that question and more! I considered my dear friends going through cancer treatments who had lost their hair. I remembered my desire to shave my head in support—but that I had chickened out. After all, I had been growing my hair long for about the last 5 years and it was below my bra strap in the back. Could I part with it?

The last time my hair had been really short was July 2015, after I had asked my amazing stylist friend, Yu-Lee, to cut off all the blonde from when a previous stylist had left the bleach on my hair for too long and fried it.

But, let me back up a bit.

Before a one time stylist in Clermont, Florida fried my hair white, I had grown my hair quite long in the late 2000s to donate 11 inches of hair to Locks of Love. And I loved the cute style my long-time stylist, Lisa, had given me.

I wore my hair short for awhile and really enjoyed the ease of it. It was so manageable and I didn’t have to struggle with tangles. Easy breezy!

Short hair is cute and looks so professional for the office.
Short hair was easy to care for all the time—especially on vacation.
I could add a feather clip to jazz it up and boom—style!
Or just let it be wind blown at the beach.
Short hair was quick to care for on festival days.
Just add a feather barrette.

At one point, I asked Yu-Lee if she did hair extensions. She explained how extensions worked, but said, “The best way to get long hair, is to stop having it cut.” And that is exactly what I did. Not because I didn’t love seeing her once or twice a year, but because we moved and I couldn’t find an expert curly hair stylist! As well, I was “busy-busy,” seemingly all the time.

At work.

During the time that I worked in an office environment, I would see Yu-Lee for my hairstyle reshaping. Plus, we had become friends BEFORE she started her hair business in St. Pete and I genuinely enjoyed our meaningful conversations and time together.

Then, my world changed. My mom passed away.

On the road. In WV. To comfort dad after mom died. To see family. Connect to what was left of my roots.
There are times our hair is the last thing on our mind.

If you are experiencing hair loss:

A month after my mom died, I’m with my granddaughters. Re-discovering Love is all that is important.
No time or concern for my hair.
Just BEing. Getting back in touch with what makes me, ME.
BEing present (at my mom’s memorial service with loved ones). Knowing all that matters. Joy in the moment. The ever present moment.
Working from home.
After my work day, making videos. No time for fussing over hair. Too busy.
On a cruise.
With my son and dad. Didn’t give s shit about my hair—thankfully.
Walking the dock. Windblown. And not happy with my hair.
Really enjoying the moment, but directing hubby to catch the wind just right for my hair. Ugh.
With my daughter in New Hampshire. I wasn’t happy with my hair in this picture either. Ugh. The judgment and self criticism!
Richard caught me in an off moment. I had been pulling my hair back (often) in a clip.
It was long, but hard to see here. It sure wasn’t worth the effort I was putting into it, to keep it out of the twins’ mouth, combing it, and dealing with shedding hair all over the house.
Okay, so here you can get some idea of how long my hair was.
And here, while shooting s Facebook Live for our business.
This had been for another Live video. All the detangling and such. So much wasted time.

By the time we went on our Sacred Celtic Journey (which I had paid for and was planning on going on for nearly a year), my dad had passed away.

In Europe.
At Stonehenge.

Looking at my face here, I see my grief. I felt such a powerful presence at Stonehenge though. I was overwhelmed with emotion and raw, deep, feelings. I could have cared less about my hair, that’s for damn sure.

Something I never did. As a sign of not giving a damn about my hair, I had been hot and sweating on our bus ride through Europe, so I grabbed up all my hair, clipped it, and took a video (this pic is a still image capture from the video). Normally, I would have pulled out bangs or bits of tendrils on the sides. Not anymore. I didn’t care. I only cared about my comfort (cooling down), and enjoying the moment.
Richard took some pictures of me that I could use professionally for profile pics. I recall all the knots I had pulled out of my hair, how much hair was coming out from combing, and if the wind was blowing, instead of enjoying the moment—more.

And now? As of April 18, 2020…

The new life begins:

BEing in nature. A couple weeks after my son shaved my head. Living the off-grid life. Loving the ferns, family, moon, stars, and gardening. Letting go. Living my Wholly Vibrant Life.

It’s just hair. It will grow back.

P.S. – After a sister bestie wrote me a message about loving this article, I replied to her: I hope to inspire and empower women—though I am not exactly sure why. I guess because my mom always wanted to be more for my dad, and didn’t see her own beauty. I had a low self esteem/image most of my life. And we all know the problems that can cause. 😘

It can’t hurt

It can’t hurt

“It can’t hurt” has been a guiding principle for me for many years. A philosophy that I have applied in many areas of my life, in particular to new strategies in business and in health matters.

Health strategies that can’t hurt

Eat more nutritious food

One of the easiest and best things each of us can do to live a healthier life, is simply to eat more nutritious food, preferably quality organic, local, fresh foods. It can’t hurt.

Move more

Another easy way to improve our health is to move more. I’m not talking about going from couch potato to marathon runner overnight, but start with 5 minutes and increase your movement (calisthenics, walking, dance, yoga, qigong, or such), everyday until you can build up to 40 minutes of movement. Measure and monitor yourself. If you ease into movement, it can’t hurt.

Meditate

Yes, the opposite of moving is stillness. Take control over your mind and body to sit quietly for a few minutes each day and focus on your breath. The new science is showing positive results, yes, physical improvements, from simply meditating. Try it. It can’t hurt.

Detoxify

A grand strategy that everyone can do is to detox. Pick your favorite detoxifying method and do it regularly. Once a year, quarterly, or monthly. We all get too many chemicals in us, via breathing, food, water, what we wear, and what we put on our skin. It can’t hurt.

Holistic health & Holism

I was telling my daughter the other day that pharmaceutical drugs always have side effects. That’s one reason I don’t take any—and if I have to, then I always make pharma meds a last resort. My health plan is to always go with the least toxic option first, because it can’t hurt.

Try some new self-care techniques. Speak loving and kind words to your body. The cells of your body are listening! And it can’t hurt.

Connection matters.

My self-care tip: When you go to the bathroom, give yourself a foot massage! Cross one leg over the other and massage your foot including your toes! Switch legs and repeat on the other side. If you work involved standing all day, I bet you’ll thank me for this tip! And if you sit all day, this re-establishes blood flow. It can’t hurt.

Hug yourself. Hug someone everyday. And put your hands together when you pray. It connects the circuits—our circuitry. It can’t hurt.

Sound and light therapies can ease tense muscles, relieve headaches, and improve many ills. Look for some of these to try. It can’t hurt.

Whenever you have a minor health issue, reach for your essential oils, Renew28, ASEA, CBD oil, or other health supplement. Sometimes I find I have the solution to whatever ails me, in my bathroom cabinets! And it doesn’t hurt to apply most of these remedies in new ways—consult your trusted holistic health team for advice if you’re unsure.

Measure & Track your progress

Measure and monitor yourself. Save some money and coach yourself. Yes, I know a personal trainer can show you the proper form and ways to exercise, but once you learn the basics, all they do is motivate you by measuring your weights and time. And you can do that for yourself. Same with personal coaches too.

Write 3 things down on a whiteboard that you want to improve about your life. Assign a number from 1-10 how you feel about each of those things. Give yourself a date by which to accomplish the change you desire. Figure out what steps you need to take to achieve those results. Break the goal into bite-size, measurable chunks, and stay focused on reaching your goal by reminding yourself why you want to change. You got this. And it can’t hurt to try it for yourself before you hire someone else to coach you. You may find that you were more capable than you thought!

Trying to lose weight? Try intermittent fasting. Also a form of detoxing, fasting for 12-16 hours a day or skipping a dinner every other day, has worked for me. And fasting can be especially wonderful for women over 40 (as it resets the metabolism). It can’t hurt to give it a try.

Why I bought a pulse oximeter

Why does one need a pulse oximeter?

After trips to Las Vegas NV and Sedona AZ, last October/November, I had picked up some kind of upper respiratory infection and felt ill for a few days. I had flown many times throughout the year though, and had not been sick, so perhaps I had begun to take my good health for granted.

It took about two weeks for me to fully recover, and believe me, I really wanted to feel tip top fast because I had won entry into a neolithic chamber in Ireland (I had filled out a lottery application when we had visited the site in July), and we had everything set to go—including flying over and back with friends! I couldn’t let everyone down by being sick—I had to be there in order for one of our friends to gain entry into the chamber as my guest, as it was one of the contest conditions.

Thus, in December 2019, when my husband and I went back to Ireland for the Winter Solstice at Newgrange (more on that here), I felt fit as a fiddle! And until our last day there, the weather had been cold, but beautiful with no rain.

However, 3 days after we returned I came down with a fever and bad chills that lasted for 2 whole days! I was so sick, that my upper back hurt when I coughed and that had never happened to me before in my life. Because I was so miserable, my husband decided he should take me to a walk-in clinic.

The particular walk-in clinic I chose to visit had an x-ray machine. And at that point, I felt I might need a chest x-ray because of the stabbing back pain I felt when I coughed. I was scared that I might have pneumonia or pleurisy.

At the clinic, the physician’s assistant (PA) asked if I had any shortness of breath. That was December 26th. No one had even heard of the coronovirus at that time, but looking back, I wonder if the doctors knew. At any rate, because the PA checked my oxygen level with a pulse oximeter and it was 98%, I made a mental note to pick up one of those devices because my thought was, had I known my oxygen level was that good, I wouldn’t have gone to the clinic!

I rarely have any need to shop at a pharmacy

I don’t often shop at a pharmacy, but at the time, we lived near a little neighborhood one, which had a post office inside—maybe that’s their tactic to attract more clients (and it worked in this case). The next time I went to ship a package, I happened to spy a pulse oximeter on the shelf, so I purchased it. $24.95. What a deal, as now I hear they go for about $50.00!

Since I have had a history of asthma (though I have been asymptomatic and not needed any pharmaceutical medications since 2005), my daughter always worries about me when I pick up a respiratory bug. I guess my husband just gets nervous whenever I am sick, no matter what.

So, we do a lot of preventive things for ourselves (like take ASEA, vitamins, eat clean, fresh, and local foods, and supplements), but one can self test to ease worrying thoughts. That reason alone, to ease anxious thoughts is reason enough to add a pulse oximeter to your medicine cabinet—right alongside your handy dandy thermometer.

And while I may err on the side of skepticism at times (I am analytical by nature), I couldn’t help but notice where this device was made! Oh, the irony!

NEWS! I’ve finished writing my health book, Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life!

Well, actually, I published the book nearly two years ago. But, somehow I think now is the best time for it to gain massive exposure.

I painstakingly wrote, Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life, to open a door to the abundance of holistic health options that most either aren’t aware of, or might have one or more mental blocks about trying.

In the book, I talk about cancer, rebuilding the immune system, improving memory and mental clarity, easing pain, and more. I present information about healing asthma and allergies, breathing better, and reversing chronic diseases.

Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life focuses on all the options people have that their doctors may not tell them about (even if they know of them). The book provides 50+ questions you can use as a starting point to have a more thorough conversation with your doctor.
It’s about taking your power back, taking ownership and personal responsibility for your health. It’s about doing what you can naturally, using holistic health and wellness methods to live vibrantly.

Are you overwhelmed by information?

Email

The influx of emails, yes, including all the stuff we subscribe to, can become unmanageable, even unwieldy at times.

I have a couple of tips on how to cut down on this glut of information, and bring more ease into your life.

First, think about and consider how much time you spend sifting through emails, reading, and responding. Become aware of that for a few minutes. Awareness is key.

Next, take advantage of the search feature with your email program. Search for specific senders and if you notice they send you more than one email a week, unsubscribe from them.

No one person or business should inundate you with that many emails. Some, when you go to unsubscribe, provide an option to limit sending more than one a week, or roll up daily emails into a weekly summary. If you love them and don’t wish to unsubscribe, at least limit them to once a week.

Social Media

Yes, you can reduce the time you read scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and others. Turn off the notifications.

If you don’t want to miss a comment someone made on something you posted, go to your own page or profile and scroll through everything YOU have posted.

It can be physically and emotionally draining to keep up with all your friends and followers. Find some balance in all of that.

I have recently unfollowed almost all of my followers on Facebook and changed my settings to see family posts first. However, I still get notifications–even from unfollowed friends! I have a love hate relationship with Facebook, I really do. See my previous post as to why I had quit it years ago.

I rejoined to feel closer to faraway family and friends, and stayed when I started a remote job. Now, my husband and I are launching a new business. However, whenever I feel engulfed by the drama of it, I set new boundaries.

I tweet sporadically, and it doesn’t seem to have the near addictive hold over me that Facebook does, hence the stronger I need to be when it comes to how much I check it.

Don’t worry if no one “Likes” your post or tweet either, because really, you can’t say the wrong thing to those who love you. ❤️😉

Classes

I have paid for so many classes in my life, I can’t even tell you! Not inly college classes, but online courses, seminars, and summits. Many PDFs, ebooks, video links, and resource materials reside on our computer hard drive or on the “cloud” unopened, because I don’t have time to study or watch them.

I’ve made a fresh commitment to myself not to buy one more, until I open and finish the ones I already own. I’m not a procrastinator, but allowing things like this to pile up, sure makes me feel like one!

For example, Mindvalley offers an excellent bundle of classes from vetted and well-respected teachers, trainers, authors, and leaders. Yet, I must stick to my new rule and follow my gut. I am not subscribing.

My goal this year is to watch all the digital and online summit materials and videos that I have bought.

Books

Last year, I set an intention to read one book a month. I completed 4.

This year, I intend to finish 4 books I have in progress and 5 that I was gifted or won in 2019 (Thank you, Wellness Universe!) Some are quite lengthy, while others are short, and one I have used as a reference for years, but never read cover to cover.

My strategy, over the last few years, has been that when I finish reading a physical book, I give it away. We live in an RV and I can’t deal with much clutter.

I have about 100 PDF books, ebooks, and books on Kindle to read though. And seeing all of those when I open the folder on our computer for a reference (because I do a lot of health and wellness research), overwhelms me. I think I an reaching my saturation point!

Should I buy a tablet or Kindle dedicated to reading these? I had one years ago and rarely used it. Thanks to technology, I have a Kindle reader app, and others that afford the capability of reading via my iPhone.

Coaching

Everyone seems to be a coach these days, and many of us have more than one!

Coaching can be very helpful at times, even if only to remind us and validate information we already know, inspire us, or hold us accountable to do what we say we want to accomplish. Is it any wonder we pay more for coaching these days? By investing more, we feel we’ll really stick to it “this time.” Ugh!

We can make our own lists though, organize goals on a calendar or whiteboard, mark tasks completed on a spreadsheet, planner, or app, and set timers on our phones to self-motivate though. Why must we pay money and have someone look over our shoulder to get things done? Yes, I get it. There’s a psychological component involved.

At any given time, many of us have a personal trainer, life coach, massage therapist, hair stylist, and so on. And if you own a business, you have more of these! (Think business coach, certified public accountant (CPA) or tax advisor, financial advisor, attorney, etc.)

See if you can streamline the number by seeking multi-faceted coaches–because remember, you receive advice and suggestions from all of these well-intentioned professionals!

Working out at home!

Working out at home!

So, after working out for 12 sessions with a personal trainer, Michael Slotin, I figured out several ways to get my workouts done at home. Good thing too, because we’ll be moving in a few weeks and I will lose my “in person” access to my trainer anyway.

Plus, after visiting another gym, I am not comfortable going to a place full of fit people or highly muscular types. I know how that sounds, and while I am sure they are all wonderful and nice people, I am in my late 50s and don’t feel like I connect. Please feel free to comment and help me improve my mindset about that, as I don’t want to think age limits any of us!

Anyway, here’s the list I have put together for my home workouts, and maybe it will help someone else too!

The list

Remember to speak (verbally or mentally) to the body while working out because the cells listen to us. Also, visualize the movements and outcome you desire pre-workout.
Use Energy Medicine techniques first, to prepare the body for movement.

Walking (swing the arms with the elbow bent)

Yoga

Qigong

Yamuna stretching

Calf raises on a stair or other solid and stable object

Leg curls laying with belly on the floor while wearing ankle weights and gripping resistance bands (though I was up to 160 lbs of weight for these on the MedX machine and I doubt I could find ankle weights of that weight! Haha!)

Leg extensions using Pilates techniques while wearing the same ankle weights and holding a resistance band, though again, I was up to 200 lbs for this exercise on the MedX machine. As an alternate way to get this leg work in, a timed slow standing squat, counting to 10 on the way up, and counting to 5 on the way down for 2 minutes is working well for me!

Standing hamstring stretch by crossing the feet and bending at the waist til head reaches the front knee. Place chair in front for balance. Keep knees straight.

Standing thigh stretch holding each foot (one at a time) with the same hand (right hand on the right foot) and pulsing back 10 times while standing by our kitchen island for balance support.

Figure 8 thigh raises to loosen hips and increase hip flexibility.

Tricep and bicep arm work using 20 pound weight dumbbells.

Inner thigh squeezes, seated, with one Yamuna ball between the knees.

Inner arm squeezes using one Yamuna ball between elbows.

Crunches on my back while squeezing both Yamuna balls between knees and elbows.

Hip raises while lying on back on the floor.

Note: Squeeze the pelvic floor muscles while lifting any weights and doing the hip raises.

Timing

Lift weights up to the point of muscle exhaustion every other day (for the same muscle), so as not to overtrain.

Will continuous participation in physical activities promote longevity?
Regular exercise will slow the aging process down without spending much money. A good exercise program you follow regularly is one of the best ways to lose weight, reduce muscle loss, spare bone density, and prevent or slow any form of heart and cholesterol-related disease.

Recovery

Drink 2 ounces of ASEA post workout to aid faster muscle recovery, improve performance, and reduce soreness.

Rub Renew 28 on your muscles too!

Buy that here.

Drink plenty of pure water after working out. Aim for half your body weight in total ounces of pure water, (or unsweetened tea or clear broth) each day to flush fat and toxins from the body. Remember, that there’s water in fresh raw vegetables too!

And get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
