2022: Review of a Tumultuous, Spiral Year

2022 Topsy Turvy Year in Review

God bless it! Omniscience bless this year whenever I look back upon it. We have lost family members and dealt with serious health challenges (when my husband suffered a stroke), but we are still here! And grateful.

2022 has been more turbulent than 2021 was for me. But I’m still standing as Elton would say!

At the very start of the year, I challenged myself to work through A Course in Miracles again. I have worked through it for about four years, but this time, I put thoughts down in Facebook, as each days ACIM lesson prompted. I stuck with the postings all year, even while on vacation. That was a big accomplishment for me!

Physically, at least we didn’t have to move this year, though I continue to look for a nice place for us in north Florida (for when our lease ends here Aug. 31, 2023).

The fear porn over an unseen virus still has some of our friends limiting their outings, most still haven’t visited us, but we get it. Everyone must take care of themselves. And after my husband, Richard, suffered an ischemic brain stem stroke Oct. 6, 2022, we know the importance of taking care of our selves even more! Richard completed a song he had begun writing prior to the stroke, Blame it on the Hurricane (it’s the first song in the short list here):

Lightening up

After 11 years in our RV and 17 months off grid, we sold our 5th wheel this year, since it had sat empty for most of the year and we knew it really needed to go to new owners who could and would enjoy it. And it did. And I made a new friend in the process, for which I am very grateful.

I have continued to give clothes, coats, dishes, plants, books, and other things away while living in the Bradenton 1/1 condo too, so there will be less to move next year. And I am happy about living a minimalist lifestyle. After all, I am a woman of simple needs, wants, and desires.

Live and Learn

I continue to work on myself—now having gained two levels of Reiki certification on my way to the Masters level. Plus, I have been rewriting my Integrated Spiral™ DE-program, completing my fourth book, and take a weekend Western Herbalism 101 course (which I had wanted to do for years)! I also got a call to volunteer to assist a well known author whom I admire–and that’s super exciting! Ah, life is for learning and doing what gives us joy!

I had signed up to complete my Reiki certifications before my husband had the stroke because I had felt I needed paper credentials in order to offer healing services. As well, I obtained ordination so I could work with people to heal plus perform marriages and funerals.

Why do we feel worthless?

I know I have been called to do these works of service. I have felt the call my whole life, but had never felt worthy. Somehow the piece of paper credentials prove me worthy to others, though within myself I know I am only an empty vessel.

Everything is Energy. And whatever healing modalities I offer are ALL Omniscience God working through me. I am not healing anyone through the little ego me. When I talk about such things and people call me arrogant, in actuality they are calling God arrogant (probably because they haven’t stepped up to their responsibilities of acknowledging God IN them)!

Knowing my place helps me stay neutral and grounded in my reality. I am to be in the world not of it, as Jesus said, and this is my mission. I am here to Connect Heaven to Earth.

Thus, I have made time to:

  • Work 8-5 M-F
  • Take care of myself and my husband (caregiver and getting him to/from rehab)
  • Drive everywhere since Richard isn’t very confident driving still
  • Grocery shop, gas up the car, clean the house, wash the dishes (though Richard has been helping some), do our laundry, etc.
  • Managing our money and paying the bills, since Richard used to do all that prior to the stroke
  • Talk or text with my daughter and son and watch their Facebook Live videos and YouTube videos, etc. when I can
  • Video chat with my oldest granddaughter, who graciously includes the twins in the calls sometimes too (and I miss them all sooo much)
  • Talk with and visit a few family members and friends (occasionally)
  • Cook all of our meals (no more dinners out) since Richard is on a strict low sodium, low sugar, no leafy greens/no vitamin K diet (due to the stroke and certain medicine interactions)
  • Reading (multiple books in progress)
  • Promote Richard’s original music—we’ve had several new songs produced in Nashville TN this year (3 were in the works when Richard had the stroke)

I was thrilled to meet author/podcaster, Gloria Grace Rand in person this year and bump into two longtime friends at Dr. Bruce Lipton’s event in West Palm Beach, Florida! My friends looked great after doing WildFit for a year, which prompted me to work the nutritive program this year too!

I have been in Dr. Bruce’s online group for nearly a year and have spoken with him and his nephew, Alex on the live monthly calls, so meeting Dr. Bruce in person was a huge treat and honor! I had hoped to meet Gregg Braden too, but at the last minute he couldn’t attend in person.

A few months later, Gloria invited me to her first retreat also and it was a wonderful event where we could share more and I made two new soulie sister friends! All three heart-centered ladies offered to read my fourth book too, which is due out very soon.

Speaking of my new book, pushed back its release due to Richard’s stroke (and my caregiver duties), and I benched the marketing of my DE-Program, Integrated Spiral™—yet these are exactly the times when I know people need the relief and open awareness it brings! At least I continue to use Integrated Spiral™ daily (which includes a Gratitude F-L-O-W), and its freeing framework to help me integrate other new things into my life—that expands time for me!

Flow state. A spiritual inquiry using the spiral pattern.

Our travel

Thankfully, we finally got to take our road trip to my home state, though unfortunately it wasn’t only to lay my parents’ remains to rest, but also to attend one of my cousins’ memorial service.

Laying my parents to rest: https://youtu.be/gzUoa4LJ2Gc

And: https://youtu.be/mdslfWikPS0

We were very blessed to stay nine days with my bestie (since 4th grade) and her “Miracle Man” husband while visiting my hometown. They were sooo incredibly gracious, cooked us the best meals, and we always said grace! I wish I hadn’t had to work while we were there (and had planned to take some days off, but one of the government contract opportunities that had been on again off again opened back up thus, I had more work)!

Thankfully, my best friend and I did get to see a few of our longtime friends, and go see some of the new things in town with our husbands, such as see this memorial near their home:

Richard and Sheila at war memorial, Vienna WV

Richard and I really had to make a conscious effort to find the silver linings during our trip because it was an emotional week for me—though less triggered these days, going home, especially after what happened with Greg and Josh, was a lot.

I’m glad we went to Josh’s memorial so I could hug two of his sisters and his wife, and spend time with Susan (Greg’s wife and a sister of another one of my high school friends too), as I had not been able to attend Greg’s memorial.

Losing both Greg and Josh only a few months apart was hard on our family, of course especially more difficult for their wives, sisters, and Josh’s children. I still catch myself in moments of disbelief, especially since Josh’s murderer was let out of jail on $8500 bond!!! We were all stupified as to how THAT could happen as it was supposed to have been an open and shut case with video! No one shoots eight times at someone driving away without intending to kill! Ugh. I can’t let my mind go there… it’s still emotionally painful when I dwell on it, so I calm myself with meditation as much as I can. And that’s a continuing practice.

Beware of Fake Light Workers

I am still angry at the lack of justice in the courts of Myrtle Beach, SC and continuing to work through this, considering various perspectives, even the darkest parts, I believe helps me clear the pain and allow more light and healing. And just as no one knows how long the grieving process takes, no one knows how long it takes to do one’s shadow work. This is why I include my feelings here, to acknowledge and give space for healing and clearing. I know it also helps others heal.

Greg’s story

Joshua’s story

Before we left town, we got to have dinner with my cousin, Laurie (sister to both Greg and Josh), and Greg’s wife, Susan. And I got to see the small Fenton gift shop too where Susan works, which is only about a mile from where I lived while growing up.

During our time there, I was also so blessed to spend a few hours on a couple of different days with my uncle Jim and aunt Janice, and dear second mom, Liz. It was a jam packed nine days, but time I will hold dear to my heart forever.

And here’s a bit of an update on Josh’s story from my hometown news: https://www.wtap.com/2022/12/16/family-josh-wilson-honor-his-memory-ahead-holiday-season/

Family comes to Florida

We were over the moon thrilled to see my daughter, son-in-law, and three cutie pie granddaughters this summer when they drove to Florida from New Hampshire for a week! I hadn’t seen them in nearly 3 years and it had been even longer since my husband had seen them (he had not met the twins in person until this visit)!

We were happy to get to see my husband’s sister, Rose, and her husband this year again, as they enjoy (yes, IN Joy), driving around the country towing their 5th wheel behind their pickup truck. And I am glad they like traveling like that, (as I can relate—I towed a travel trailer years ago and didn’t like the towing experience).

I was especially grateful Rose and Alan could make another trip down in October to help us when Richard had the stroke because he needed an advocate with him and unfortunately I got ill from spending each day with him in the hospital. I really felt my husband needed someone to be with him and be his advocate (because of all the incidents while he was in there, and lack of communication between the doctors and nurses, which really annoyed me). The last three days of Richard’s nine day stay, I was too sick to go in there. Thank God for family!

Hair Growth

My hair has grown quite a lot in a year. But I am looking forward to getting a pixie cut in the spring of 2023.

I’ve combed through my hair completely (with my head upside down) and cut several inches off it this year and I do believe I’d like to have bangs. So that decision has been made. It’s simply a question of timing and figuring out who will cut it. I had wanted my daughter to cut it when she was here, but we had so little time together.

Dental work

I’m still missing my front tooth. But I have tried several new diets and supplements this year to see if I might be able to regenerate or improve the few real teeth I still have and now, I am at a point where I either get implants or dentures. And I am leaning towards dentures since I don’t feel I can handle anything being implanted into my body. I’m sensitive chemically and emotionally.

I’m also still fighting a tooth infection from the last dentist who put three crowns on molars last year, and I guess now I am going to have at least one of those pulled as the infection is less but hasn’t completely cleared yet and I doubt that’s healthy to keep a bad tooth in my mouth. I got it pulled Dec. 12th, 2022 and I did exceptionally well throughout the process! More on that here: https://sheilamurrey.net/2022/12/17/dental-high-jinks/

It just sucks that I spent all that money on the crown and it has bothered me for more than a year (plus, though numb during that work, it hurt very badly and I told them but they continued working on it). Lesson learned. I should have got up and walked out. Plus, they still owe me $1,150 that’s a credit on my account! (And yes, I have exhausted all of the various means of trying to force them to pay me but nothing has worked yet!)

Honoring the Sacred Past

I feel the Winter Solstice that didn’t shine sunbeams into the Newgrange chamber in Ireland December 2019, was meant to warn me of the tumultuous years ahead. And that I would continue to integrate my shadow self this year as I began this task last year. An ongoing practice.

The huge Banyan tree in our 55+ community. I have a few more months here to enjoy it:

Banyan tree, Bradenton FL

Classes and groups

Because we are limiting our time out of the house, I’ve had more time to participate in online groups and programs. I’ll share a few next:

Bruce Lipton’s online community

Bestselling author, podcaster, and now a soulie sister of mine, Gloria Grace Rand, whom I’d followed on social media for years but hadn’t met in person (until we chose to meet at the Bruce Lipton conference), invited me to a retreat in September she created. And I am sooo glad I went! We ALL had the best time: https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/09/12/review-unplug-to-recharge-retreat-i-attended-yesterday-thank-you-gloria-grace-rand/

Plus, I am so fortunate to have met my Reiki Master, Victoria Stitzer and participate with her in weekly in-person Reiki circles as well as, certify in level I and II again and progress in my training and practice next year to the Masters level.

Check out Spiritual Mastermind Reiki Meditation Group SWFL on Meetup https://meetu.ps/c/50XXn/11mRY/a

Link to Victoria’s website: https://transformvegas.com/

And near the end of the year I was finally able to take a weekend herb class I had desired to take for several years! I took Western Herbalism 101 from Traditions School of Herbal Studies, in St. Petersburg, Florida. I learned sooo much! I loved the classes and will probably go again for more medicine making classes in the future.

Think in terms of degrees, doses, and layers and Truths will emerge.

Weight loss

In the early part of the year, I was still making shakes for breakfast and lunch with protein powder from The Green Smoothie Girl. If you like smoothies I highly recommend Robyn’s products as a way to get more protein.

If you’d like to give this plan a try, here’s the link: https://shop.greensmoothiegirl.com/pages/food-supplements?affiliate=895

March 2022, I had a consult with Dan McDonald, the Life Regenerator from YouTube fame, and did only citrus fruit for more than a month. You can read about that here: https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/03/13/mindset-shift-citrus-diet/

Then I tried the Bone Broth diet with very limited success. I didn’t even last two weeks on it.

I also tried the Carnivore diet:

https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/06/29/how-i-lost-5-pounds-in-5-days/

A friend invited me to try WildFit and it was a game changer for me! I am continuing to lose weight, which is so amazing and thrilling! I highly recommend checking out WildFit if you have tried everything else and haven’t yet lost the weight you desire to lose.

I am simply stunned that it helped me release over 20 pounds (and keep it off through some highly stressful times that always put weight back on my body before), because I focus on consuming whole foods, breathwork, and stress reduction with standing up and doing qigong and yoga movements throughout my workday, and getting enough sleep. There’s a lot of research to support these practices and how they help with healthy weight loss.

I had been eating very close to the foods WildFit recommends before, but perhaps it was the “seasons” approach and mindset stuff which finally reset my fat burning switch, I’m not sure.

Whatever formula WildFit has come up with is working for me though and that’s a huge win for me after 25 years of struggling to release excess weight and keep it off even through two hurricanes, power out for 8 days, hubby having the stroke, family visits, and holidays! Incredible!

I summarized my WildFit experience here: https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/08/14/wildfit/

New Music

Hubby and I continue to work on showcasing his original new music—getting it out to more musicians who play Live. Here’s the new page I have setup: https://sheilamurrey.net/murrey-creations/

And here’s the link to our songs on Apple:

Can you dig it?!?

It’s ALL Energy

Let’s let go of 2022 with ease and thanksgiving and celebrate the New Year ahead!

Off Grid, Living off the land, and the Tanka

Off Grid Living is tough

After 17 months in the woods of northeast Florida my husband and I called it quits, granted we were older when we attempted to give it a go. Perhaps younger people do better with all the Off Grid living. But it’s tough, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

After moving to a condo with electricity and all the conveniences, I don’t care to go back to Off Grid living. We still have our battery backups and needed them during two hurricanes while our power was off, but I was not a happy camper! Ugh.

It comes down to sustainability. Our mental and physical sustainability.

Living off the land

My grandparents (both sets) raised my parents while “living off the land.” Both sets of grandparents lived on farms, my mom was raised on a smaller city farm and my dad on 200+ acres, but both definitely understood what it meant and how hard it could be to live off the land and only get flour, sugar, and few other items from a small grocer. My mom and dad sure had fortitude from being raised with so little though! Here’s some thoughts I have about how living off the land strengthened them:

  • Each knew a LOT about trees.
  • Each walked a LOT, everyday. Miles and miles of country roads. It kept them grounded. Literally.
  • Each became quite in tune with nature.
  • Each learned how to survive with next to nothing.
  • Each stayed humble throughout their entire lives (though eventually gaining some success and money).
  • They loved stargazing and looking at the moon on clear nights.
  • They enjoyed cooking outside.
  • They enjoyed the sights and sounds of wildlife.
  • Mom adored squirrels, frogs, and deer.
  • Dad hunted. Later in life dad couldn’t kill a deer, after discovering their elegance and beauty.
  • My paternal grandfather swore by the Farmer’s Almanac to plant his garden.
  • Mom and her sister raised ducks. They often ate duck eggs instead of chicken eggs.
  • Mom wouldn’t name any of the farm animals as she never knew when one would become dinner.
  • My maternal grandmother would ring the chicken’s neck to kill it.
  • One of mom and dad’s first dates was at a lake.

1883

My husband and I just found this series on Paramount Plus (link below) and have been bleary-eyed watching every episode. Life as not easy at all for the pioneers! I sit in amazement often as to how my grandparents raised their children (three on mom’s side and six on dad’s side of the family) when they had sooo very little means!

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13991232/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Tanka

Here’s some bit of history for you and how the Native American tribes are working hard to bring back the buffalo.

Tanka video

Learning from the Tanka

As Roger Miller famously sings, “You can’t roller skate in a buffalo herd.” And apparently, we can’t get enough sun on solar panels in the woods.

Yet, I continue to meditate upon what I’ve learned from our Off Grid experience, though I am not ready to go camping anytime soon. Living without immediate access to electric power is for the birds! LOL

Life is good, and God is good—ALL the time.

Giving a gift found via Unplug to Recharge retreat

Thank you, Sherinata Pollock I’m so happy I met you because I learned a bunch about shungite from you!

I gave my bestie (my dearest long-time friend from elementary and high school) a shungite pendant and bracelet I bought from Sherinata and my dear friend loves these jewelry items sooo much! In fact, she was so thrilled with the pieces that she posted a Facebook post about them with a picture! We are hoping they will provide her with pain relief, as she has metal rods in her back and has had 6 surgeries in 5 years! Ugh!

Thus, I’ll look into anything that offers to provide less pain for my friend, and I have (and have another post coming soon about another item I’m currently testing that promises pain relieving properties). So far, I’ll take my friends’ word, along with my personal experience that Sherinata is definitely on to something with the shungite. Plus, these pieces are beautiful and easy to wear.

Sherinata owns a company called, Karelia Creations and herself has an amazing story of health recovery from wearing these EMF protective items. Her story sold me even before wearing these bracelets!

Check out Sherinata’s lovely expressive arts and health-affirming creations at: https://kareliacreations.com/?fbclid=IwAR1LWlNGnS3Swo6e6wnS0-vCkOEvc_L6HDI2S5tDbsRlxpcrylSyrkh3zSc

As for me, I have been experiencing profound differences from wearing my unisex shungite bracelet (only take it off to shower)! I’ve worn my unisex bracelet everyday for over two months, even to sleep, and it shows no signs of stretching or wear, so I believe it’s made to last.

Plus, I have the stickers on my laptop computer and phone. I am much more relaxed while working on these devices!! I’m thrilled!

unisex shungite bracelet

I also bought my “love of my life” husband one of these unisex shungite bracelets from Sherinata also, when he had the stroke–yes, I put it on him while he was still in the hospital too! It was one of the first things I ordered after Richard experienced the stroke because that’s what I do, I look to see what I can DO to help! I’d already signed up for Reiki, Richard just became my first and best client (haha!)… lucky/blessed him, huh?

Note: I love it when a plan comes together and I was able to gift my Reiki master teacher, two avocado trees that I’d grown (and done Reiki on too) from the seeds of the Pollack avocados Sherinata had sent to me!!! I also love the hand notes that Sherinata writes on the shipping receipt. She’s a truly sweet genuine human being.

Review: WildFit works!

After completing a WildFit 90 day challenge, I lost over sixteen pounds! WOW! And I am continuing to live WildFit. I now believe, if I were living in the jungle somewhere, I wouldn’t starve. And I am continuing to learn about herbs and vegetables I can grow in small containers too (but that’s a different topic). No, WildFit doesn’t mean you have to go out foraging for your food, which is kind of what I thought when I first signed up. LOL

Photo by Oliver Sju00f6stru00f6m on Pexels.com

I am eating consciously. I am thinking about why I am going to the fridge each time BEFORE I head that way. I am also working with clay while I watch movies, documentaries, or series with my husband. It keeps my hands busy and coated with a bit of the clay too, so I am not tempted to eat anything. Ha! Little hack for ya.

I am continuing to do breathwork–it helps for sure (I do a couple of different kinds). And tap on my body whenever I feel stressed. (Yes, I have done EFT on myself for YEARS)!

Here’s the thing. For years, I tried different diets:

  • Carnivore Diet
  • Bone Broth Diet
  • Intermittent fasting
  • The Blood Type Diet
  • Vegetarian
  • Juice fasting
  • Raw Vegan
  • Jenny Craig

But now, I found Dr. Osborne who explains WHY my body never released weight (because my gut wasn’t in good shape) from ingesting pink slime all without my knowledge! Plus, I definitely know (after WildFit) that I had gut issues because I have issues with grains and dairy.

I was able to slowly incorporate mental strategies (over the course of the last three months of WildFit) that I’m thrilled to say have stuck. I consider what type of hunger I’m experiencing BEFORE I go to the kitchen to look for something to eat. I drink more water, and I am finding it easier to drink water (I infuse a pitcher of water with slices of cucumbers or lemons, alternating these every few days so I am not always consuming lemon water). I don’t miss white potatoes, rice, bread, or butter anymore. And I am continuing to release the excess weight (fat) from my body.

Go through WildFit and you’ll learn why/how we’re psychologically programmed/conditioned to drink, eat “treats,” etc. and more. Of course most of us know how media, TV, movies, commercials have programmed us, but WildFit puts it in a sequence that helps.

Eating a gift I received at: Unplug to Recharge retreat

At the Unplug to Recharge retreat, I was gifted this Pollock avocado.

Thank you, Sherinata Pollock (yes, it’s wild that the avocado shares her last name) for gifting me with this huge, Haas-like avocado. It’s sooo creamy and good tasting, I can hardly explain! I even put some of it in a couple freezer bags for use throughout this week in my green WildFit smoothies (they call them, Alkagizers). (I’m finishing week 6 of WildFit and down 8 pounds as of this morning, since beginning this program.)

I’m also sooo happy to have met Sherinata–a new “soulie sister”!

Here are pictures of this amazing avocado:

Ripe Pollock avocado
Checking ripeness by playing with the stem nub
Yes, the stem nub is coming off (always a sign of ripeness of an avocado)
Stem is off and I’m ready to cut and scoop out the avocado
The open Pollock avocado

I used the Pollock avocado in my green veggie smoothie, as well as, a topping to some cooked cabbage (I used to slather butter on my boiled cabbage–the only way I ever ate it before). So, yeah, it’s a game changer. Of course, flax seeds are great on the cooked cabbage too! And I’d never done THAT before in my life. I am so loving unleveling my diet, y’all. So lovin’ WildFit!

As an aside, but a very important one: Sherinata owns a company called, Karelia Creations. I’ve signed up to offer some of her products as well. You’ll see some on my Wholly Integrating the Spiral (WITS) store page here: https://sheilamurrey.net/store/
You can check out her lovely and health-affirming creations at: https://kareliacreations.com/?fbclid=IwAR1LWlNGnS3Swo6e6wnS0-vCkOEvc_L6HDI2S5tDbsRlxpcrylSyrkh3zSc

I’m continuing to make cabbage, adding cauliflower and asparagus to it as well, that I’d learned to make at the retreat. Stay tune to the next article about that!

I am sooo thankful to Gloria Grace Rand, for the Unplug to Recharge retreat, new recipes, and especially that this is becoming very sustainable for me. Perhaps, because I am integrating into my life by following the little framework I developed in 2020 called, Integrated Spiral. Haha!

Review: Unplug to Recharge, retreat I attended. Thank you, Gloria Grace Rand!

After a 16 hour adventure of a day that included: almost 2 hours driving over to Davenport, Florida, 12 hours of delightful retreat workshop activities, clean eating, body treatment under crystal lights, chatting with enlightened souls and making new soul bonds, and a bit more than one hour and a half driving back home to Bradenton, Florida… I was pooped but highly Energized! I thoroughly enjoyed my day (blessed IN Joy)!

Here’s my review of Unplug to Recharge retreat.

First, the other kindred spirits at this weekend retreat became new “soulie sisters” of mine! That means, we each felt as if we’d made a soul friend within minutes of meeting. And that’s always very aWEsOMe!

We started the morning by taking turns introducing ourselves to each other while holding a beautiful Talking Stick that Gloria brought. Those familiar with Stephen Covey’s classes, or Native American ceremonies will know what this is. It helped each of us feel heard, while encouraging the listeners to practice Active Listening skills (instead of thinking about what they would say next). We had fun with this routine though, and sometimes when one of us would get excited and want to burst with some statement, another would say, “Touch the stick, touch the stick”! And we would all roar with laughter!

Then, we moved to the massive kitchen table to being making salt scrub (mine’s in the glass jar with black lid in the photo). I was thrilled to do this activity because I’d tried this before (years ago–on my own) and hadn’t been very successful, so this was a treat! And now I know how to make this for myself from here on out. (Wink!) I used lavender essential oil and vanilla. It works well and smells sooo good!

Later in the day, we worked on cards, similar to vision boards, but much more interesting! The cards are part of a process called, Soul Collage–and for me, it served as a sort of automatic writing class! I enjoyed this time immensely, especially the sharing about each of our cards after we completing creating the boards and writing about them.

Here’s one of my cards. I named it, Blue. I guess it’s very fitting I’d do that, since I just finished writing my new book, Blue Eyes (it’s off to the editor as of 9/9/2022).

Sheila’s soul collage, “Blue.”
Sheila’s interpretation (automatic writing) of “Blue.”

I can’t say enough about how this experience allowed each of us to learn more about each other and bond. I’d had an expectation that I may not engage that much with this project because I’d not Connected so strongly with vision board creation years ago–wow, was I wrong!

I loved exploring more about this way of automatic writing (I’d wanted to do automatic writing but had not previously taken the time). So it was really revealing and I enjoyed that.

Here’s a picture of me creating my boards (note the blue glass in the window):

Gloria snapped this picture of me while I was making my soul collage.

And this is my two second board, along with the page out of my journal (a gift from Gloria to each participant):

Sheila’s soul collage, “Sunlight.”

Gloria cooked lunch and dinner for us, and totally exceeded my expectations of food that was gluten-free (and grain free). Plus, the food was so good, I asked for the recipes! (That almost never happens.)

Dinner – chicken cabbage squash and radishes

We also said a meditation prayer of thanks (and held hands) before each meal (that had lovingly been placed on the kitchen table by the host). This blessed our food and perhaps, added to all the lively flavors!

Meditation for Blessing our Food

Here’s the cabbage I made yesterday, after returning home from the retreat:

We had the opportunity to take in several holistic health treatments too, and I chose to lay under the healing crystal lights.

The crystal lights were on a stand beside a bed and had an array of colored lights that would turn and off in rhythm. And light music played for the 30 minutes I was under the healing lights.

Fully clothed, I had a sheet on me and pad over my eyes so I could relax and meditate. I probably would have fallen asleep but I could hear my soulie sisters talking in the next room, just a bit–enough to keep me more present. I enjoyed laying on the under those crystal lights.

After dinner, we surprised Gloria with a luscious Chantilly Lace birthday cake from Whole Foods, a card from ALL, and gifts. We enjoyed dinner very much and the cake was divine. (I chose to have a small slice because I’m now on week 6 of WildFit.)

We had plenty of time to talk about meaningful topics with one another, do a little shopping too (from one of the gals’ crystal offerings), and try vocalizing in Light Language.

Crystal bowls Gloria played a bit for us

Gloria Grace Rand sings and speaks Light Language and gave us a collective session. I had heard it a few times before but was hesitant to try it. With much encouragement though, I did give it a whirl and sang or hummed something that sounded Asian to me. I had never heard myself sing anything like what came out of my mouth this evening before. It was stunning and energizing! I think I will continue this practice at home. (Wink!)

If you’d like to hear Gloria’s podcast where she shares her Light Language, check it out here: https://gloriarand.com/receiving-gods-grace/#more-19380

Toward evening time, we wrote on a piece of paper any of the things we wanted to “let go” or release. And then, we went into the backyard (which I noted had two twin Live Oak trees, and I felt that was uncanny since the next day was the 21st anniversary of the day the twin towers fell in New York City). We had a short full moon and fire ceremony and lit our papers on fire. I sang a bit and gave thanks for a day well spent.

The retreat was located at a house called, Contemplation Castle, in Davenport, Florida.

When I see more photos on Facebook of the event, I’ll update this and add them, as I didn’t take any pictures during the event because I totally unplugged (and didn’t even take my phone out of my bag all day, except for one time to check messages from my husband). And that was the whole point of the day, for me. (My hubby always says I have my phone attached to my hip!) LOL

Review: I can eat ketchup again! Thank you, Primal Kitchen!

If you’ve been told that you’re pre-diabetic or think you may have insulin resistance, you really owe it to yourself to check into WildFit, or Sugar Busters, and start reading every label for each product you buy in the grocery store–as many (almost all packaged foods) include some form of sugar.

And guess what?

The human body doesn’t need all of that sugar! Sugar is NOT a food group!

I’d given up ketchup years ago due to the amount of sugar in that condiment. I even made my own mustard for a few years!

Labor Day weekend sale!

I found Primal Kitchen when I was looking for a tasty barbecue / BBQ sauce… you can read about that here: https://sheilamurrey.net/2022/08/20/lets-go-primal/

WildFit

I’m tired of dieting.

I really hope this is the last lifestyle plan I need. But do we ever stop learning?

Tired of dieting.

Once again, I am journaling what I eat, and why.

Once again, I am eating consciously.

Once again, I am giving up weighing myself daily (as I had learned to do two years ago from the Omada health plan). https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2021/05/30/diets-and-losing-weight/

Once again, I am using a new breathing routine; breathwork.

I did release 2 pounds the first week (but that may also be due to just getting home after 12 days away for my cousin’s memorial and burying my parents’ remains).

So, I am fully committed to WildFit. I feel like I have tried everything else.

I have been a Jenny Craig diet consultant (and lost 30 pounds in 3 months on that plan—gained most of it back during 3 hurricanes in 2004).

I have been raw vegan for a year.

I have been vegetarian.

I have eaten according to my blood type (The Blood Type Diet) for several years.

I have done the Bone Broth diet. https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/02/05/what-do-you-think-about-the-bone-broth-diet/

I have eaten only citrus fruits for a month. https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/04/12/eating-citrus-for-a-month/

I have done intermittent fasting.—many times. https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2019/02/17/intermittent-fasting/

I have done body wraps, red light wraps, It Works wraps, body detoxes, green smoothies, juice fasts, colonics, etc.

I have been carnivore for nearly two months. https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2022/06/29/how-i-lost-5-pounds-in-5-days/

https://sheilamurrey.net/2022/06/27/have-you-tried-the-carnivore-diet/

I simply want to feel good in my own skin again, as I did for most of my life before I turned 35.

I’ve tried many times to release the excess weight, even EFT and hypnosis! https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2015/12/06/trouble-losing-weight-it-may-not-all-be-in-your-genes/

When I attended a Dr. Bruce Lipton event a couple of months ago, I bumped into two gals I have known for years. They had both lost 50-60 pounds and looked great! When I asked them how they did it, they said they had been doing WildFit for a year and that it was easy!

So, mentally, right then, I signed up.

When the global WildFit challenge started 8/8/22, I started with them! Yes, both of my friends are doing it again with me in a group, one of the two is our coach!

So far, I am learning some things and feeling positive. I’ll let you know how it’s going in a few weeks.

Do we see physical changes in our body after making changes in our diet?

Let’s chat about eating. And about how what we consume changes our physical body.

It strikes me as funny in an odd way, to consider how what we eat and drink physically changes our body.

How we can make a connection (very easily) between what we consume (our diet) and our body? I mean if we eat less, or we change what we’re eating, say by eating less meat–does this cause us to lose weight, or muscle? By eating no meat, i.e. less fat, and not consuming any oil, or not drinking any alcohol–do we see physical differences (for the better) in our body?

When we make those kinds of changes in our diet, or let’s say we we go on a sugar fast, not eating sugar for 30 days. Can we immediately see a change in our body? We immediately see the numbers on the scale go down, right? So, It puzzles me then (using that reasoning), how we miss the mark when it comes to making the connection between the junk food and our health.

How we feel in our body or how our body responds over time to what we’ve been eating. So let’s say we eat fast food, and we eat sweets, and we drink alcohol, and we drink soda, and things like that. And then we wake up one morning and we’re constipated.

It strikes me as odd that we don’t understand that, after many years, the body can develop a chronic disease or cancer, or a tumor, or something like that. Something that needs to be fixed (like a hernia–but that’s kind of a different subject and also is probably related more to stress or grief or anger than to the food but nobody really knows 100%).

So I’m just putting the thought out there.

When you restrict your eating, let’s say, to what I’ve been doing the past month eating only citrus fruit (what do you notice)? And yes, a couple of times, here and there, I’ve had a cup of cooked basmati rice. I’ve had a bowl of cooked cabbage, and things like that, but no meat and not any oil. I did have a salad a couple times of lettuce, onion, and garlic, and put some oil and vinegar on it. So, I wouldn’t call that cheating.

I kept my food is very bland and predominantly 98% of my diet morning, noon, and night, was citrus fruit. I really only kind of strayed from the citrus fruit when I I kind of felt weak or I felt like in my body needed a little bit more something of substance.

I consumed no meat to speak of and no alcohol, and in 30 days, I lost 10 pounds of excess weight.

I’m on a track to lose, or release, 60 pounds. And I have been analyzing, sitting with, and meditating on the changes that are occurring in my body.

When I see things like moles that I’ve had on my body for decades, and they’re sloughing off, that’s a change. I’ve put a lot of essential oil on them too (so then, there’s that). I’ve kept my focus on them throughout the month to release them, and let them go. And they have! And that’s really been amazing to watch. Because I have been focused on it. I didn’t just kind of sort of put the essential oil on a couple times and forget about them. I’ve been looking every few days at these moles and watching them reduce in size or get lighter or completely fall off. It’s just really been amazing.

A couple of skin tags have fallen off my body with no scar too. Yeah, I don’t know why I ever went to the dermatologist years ago and had stuff frozen off or burned off or such. Those treatments left scars! Looking back, it was just such a brutal treatment really on my skin, whereas this has been so gentle. Anyway, not to go off too much on a tangent there.

So again, I say this mostly for myself when I go back and re read my blog articles, months, years later during this month. It’s been a profound change but a profound awareness I’ve gained from making this change to a severely restricted diet. Like I said grapefruit, tangerines, oranges, tangelos and such.

My thought process has really sharpened too. My cognition, my clarity, and my awareness seems more keen. I seem to put things together now that I may not have before. And I’m remembering better. Not that I was having any issues before really (though my son said he’d noticed a few things when we lived on his property–but I think there were other reasons for that).

Green smoothie – kale, banana, berries, and fiber and protein powders

I’ve been taking better care of myself (increasing my self care), in general.

I’m restarting my green smoothie habit (I used to do this daily in 2008-2010 or so). Am employing different and better tooth brushing techniques; taking better care of my body with the fascia blasting; and working in more targeted and challenging exercises (like Asian squats).

But just to say, make the connection between the food that you’re eating and the liquids, the drinks that you’re drinking and your body and just really sit with that and then evaluate that and see what you come up with. Then, comment and let me know.

Yes, please write to me in the comments. If you don’t want me to share the comments publicly, just let me know and I won’t publish them–because I view each of them independently and privately. I will only publish your comments if you’re fine with me sharing them publicly. Thank you so much. Let’s love ourselves and each other!

To our better health. OM

Eating Citrus for a month!

I have been eating a Citrus Diet for just over a month.

Thanks to reading an email from raw vegan health coach, Life Regenerator, Dan McDonald, (and having a personal consultation with him).

I have been eating a variety of grapefruit, oranges, tangelos, kiwi, and tangerines (with a few times, snacking on fresh blueberries and strawberries), and drinking lots of water with slices of lemon, along with one or two cups of herb tea each day.

The results have been astounding!

2 cup fruit bowl. Raw grapefruit, orange, and tangerines (and Puradyme digestive enzymes).

I have gently released 12 pounds! The weight loss has been very easy. And I have had no cravings (not that I ever have many cravings anyway). Still, I noted my thoughts and feelings when I thought to head to the kitchen for anything.

My BRAIN is definitely functioning better, and my skin continues to clear and feel smoother.

Overall I am noticing that I’m:

  • Less moody
  • Have better clarity
  • Got more stuff done
  • Feel more confident
  • Feel more hopeful
  • Feel more purposeful
  • Moles continuing to flake off
  • Face has stayed clear
  • Feel more vibrant

I want to continue eating this way! One day at a time though.

I have begun to eat raw vegetables for dinner (celery and avocado with Mrs. Dash as a seasoning, and salads with raw Vegan Ranch dressing from The Raw Food World). I also tried Parma vegan parmesan as salad garnish and am enjoying the new flavor and texture it adds.

Vegan Ranch dressing and Parma vegan parmesan

I did eat in a restaurant a few days ago with a friend and enjoyed a seaweed salad and small amount of sushi fish. I have also had some basmati cooked rice a couple of times.

Next, I have a couple of papaya days planned where I will simply eat ripe papayas for all 3 meals (or as needed) for both days! That should be fun!

And for those wanting to learn about who Dan McDonald is, here’s one of his latest videos and there are links to all his stuff in the information part of the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eZWCavVMGs

Maybe I will become a fruitarian? I do love avocados—even alone, without any rice or celery. But one of the reasons I am doing this is to detach from things and question my motives. It’s a spiritual journey.

Curious how it goes?

Stay tuned!
