Intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting

Also called IF, intermittent fasting can be done a number of different ways. For me, the easiest and most effective way has been to skip dinner every other day, yes, even on weekends.

When I skip dinner every other day, it puts me into a mindset whereby it is routine. Even if a family visit or other event pops up on one of my fasting days, I can eat a light vegetable salad or soup, if saying, “Thanks, I’ve already eaten” doesn’t work. The next day I eat normally. And then the next day, I fast. I don’t sabotage myself by thinking because I had veggies on my fasting day I should quit. No! I simply remind myself that I am fasting every other day and keep on with it. I exercise my faith in fasting, and my faith in myself.

Exercising Faith

Exercising Faith

Fasting is an exercise of Faith

Personally, fasting is a means to exercise my faith that all things are working out for me. That the Universe and Omniscience has my back. That another meal will follow on another day. That I don’t need to struggle or worry.

In this way, faith really IS a substance. My inner fortitude and power to easily give up a meal.

Detox

While I fast, I drink more water, sometimes with lemon and ginger juice in it (about 1 ounce of lemon and ginger juice that I freshly juice to 8 ounces of distilled water).

Weight loss

For women over the age of 50, losing weight takes even more focus and knowledge. Ways to enhance your awareness of what and how much you eat can include keeping a food diary. And it’s not just about counting calories, though that’s not a bad idea.

I’ve been tracking my food intake and calories for over 500 days on Lose It! app. 😉 But, I write everything down again on paper for my doctor.

Unfortunately my body did NOT respond to the Nothing til 4pm version of intermittent fasting. For it to work for me, I must skip dinner every other night!

I feel that detoxifying and supplementing, plus writing down my food, activity, bathroom habits, how well / how much I slept each night and such have given me a newfound awareness and level of accountability. Dr. Michele muscle tests me for metals (that I had to detox from), as well as what nutrients I was missing, so I know what and how much supplements to take. So far, working with her has helped me lose more weight than merely counting my calories. ❤️

Hormones

Intermittent fasting research studies show it increased cellular repair, helps heal our guts, and decreases inflammation.

Fasting affects our hormones, such as:

Dopamine–improves cognitive ability.

Ghrelin–the hunger hormone can be better controlled.

Leptin–our resistance to this can be less, so we can release excess weight.

What do you know about CBD oil?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol. And typically it comes from the marijuana plant, but it can also be taken from the hemp plant. CBD oil from hemp is not psychoactive like the CBD oil from marijuana.

Said another way, CBD oil from marijuana is sometimes given to patients by a medical doctor now that medical marijuana is legal in many states. However, CBD oil (grown in Europe) from the hemp plant is legal in all 50 states! Again, this is because it is not psychoactive.

To date, I have tried five different brands (PrimeMyBody not pictured) of CBD oil, and each is of a different milligram, viscosity, and taste. I believe some of the brands improve my brain function, but all have reduced nervous tension (both the mental and physical components of tension) to more or less of a degree, perhaps depending upon their formulation and processing.

You can go to the Pub Med government site and search using the terms “CBD” and “ailment” (substituting whatever ailment you have for the second term) to be able to find studies relating to the benefits of CBD oil. In the following example, I entered “CBD” and “alzheimer’s disease” and it returned 229 search results! Even if only one of the results was positive, I considered it a valid result.

Government Studies –> https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/
Over 23,000 studies relating to CBD oil there that include:

Cannabidiol Oil for Decreasing Addictive Use of Marijuana: A Case Report.

This case study illustrates the use of cannabidiol (CBD) oil to decrease the addictive use of marijuana and provide anxiolytic and sleep bene ts. Addiction to marijuana is a chronic, relapsing disorder, which is becoming a prevalent condition in the United States. The most abundant compound in the marijuana, which is called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), has been widely studied and known for its psychoactive properties.

The second most abundant component-CBD-has been suggested to have the medicinal e ects of decreasing anxiety, improving sleep, and other neuro-protective e ects. The mechanism of action for CBD has been suggested to be antagonistic to the psychoactive properties of THC in many locations within the central nervous system. Such action raises the issue of whether it might be bene cial to use CBD in isolation to facilitate withdrawal of marijuana use. The speci c use of CBD for marijuana reduction has not been widely studied.

The patient was a 27-y-old male who presented with a long-standing diagnosis of bipolar disorder and a daily addiction to marijuana use. In the described intervention, the only change made to the patient’s treatment was the addition of CBD oil with the dosage gradually decreasing from 24 to 18 mg. With use of the CBD oil, the patient reported being less anxious, as well as settling into a regular pattern of sleep. He also indicated that he had not used any marijuana since starting the CBD oil. With the decrease in the dosage to 18 mg, the patient was able to maintain his nonuse of marijuana.

You can also research to learn more about CBD oil by visiting the American Herbal Products Association –> http://ahpa.org

My advice would be (for anyone wondering if it could help them), to give it a try. Everyone is unique. My opinion is that CBD will help all kinds of things. We just don’t always know what the root cause is. If a physical issue is caused from a mental or spiritual issue, a physical product may not resolve it. Make sense?

Why write this post about CBD oil?

My mother, aunt, and grandmother died with Alzheimer’s. I have the hopes that this oil will help those experiencing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. And CBD oil may be a preventive supplement.

After taking CBD oil for only 4 days I noticed a big change in my mood (less anxious feelings at work) and ability to think faster (better mental processing speed) with improved mental clarity and focus! I really feel it’s brain food!

CBD oil helped me to fall asleep faster at night (even from only taking a few drops in the mornings), and it reduced my snoring. Additionally, I went from not being able to remember four names a day to ONE, and when given a moment even that name comes back to me! (A quantifiable example of improved memory function).

A few others who have noticed improvements since taking CBD oil:

KK: teenage daughter has noticed that it helps calm her + fall and stay asleep!

KB: I have noticed more clarity; better able to focus, mush less arm and shoulder pain and it is helping me sleep better!

KE: I feel alive!!!! Energized! Sleeping through the night for the first time in years. Also, heel discomfort is so much better.

MF: No more racing thoughts for me.

TR: Best thing for my pain. I feel great!

TD: My mind has calmed, yet my energy has increased. I have a very physical job, so the level of energy this gives me is such a gift! Much less inflammation and joint pain. I’ll take it for the rest of my life.

UPDATE:

We are so overly marketed to in the U.S. and most of us don’t want to spam people with brands we sell etc. I used to sell a CBD brand called, PrimeMyBody. But my upline (whom I still highly respect), switched companies—twice!!

The more you try different brands, the more you begin to find out why. Some contain toxins, even in trace amounts. Some have pharma backers. Some are only tested by companies they set up (behind the scenes) so their lab analysis look good.

The more CBD you get into you, the more balanced your body becomes, the less of this you may need. Self monitor (self-titrate) your dose on an ongoing basis. You don’t need to take more than you need.

I am brand independent because I want people to trust what I write about with no conflict of interest. ❤️
