Gloves, masks, sanitizer? Oh, my!

Gloves, masks, or both?

Thankfully, I was schooled by an RN when all this COVID-19 pandemic started—on the ways to wear a mask (if nothing else, a mask discourages one from face touching), and when and how to wear gloves.

HINT: One doesn’t need to wear gloves all the time when you are out and about. Plus, you can sanitize your gloves and reuse them to save money and landfill space. As well, you can double-glove (as doctors do), as an extra precaution during certain circumstances.

Gloves, masks, or both?

I have worn the mask, not the gloves, and use essential oils or Illuminent Results hand sanitizer (when I return to my car after grocery shopping or pumping gas), followed by good hand washing and applying Primal Life Organics Hand Repair when I get home.

Illuminent Results sanitizer and Primal Life Organics Hand Repair

I use the top of the canvas bags I carry into the store and place in that small area of the cart, to cover the cart handle and push the cart. And I use the little veggie baggies while shopping and picking up items to put in and take out of the cart.

When I unload the groceries at home, I wash down the packages, bottles, and cans with dishwashing liquid—the soapy bubbles are enough, before my hubby (who is over 65), touches any of the items.

Here’s a link to my nurse friend’s proper hand washing video: https://youtu.be/ZhbTbtljFmY

More than six weeks into this pandemic, I see people doing all sorts of things at the grocery store, but still about half take their children with them and don’t use any form of protection (and these are families, not single parents). But, I don’t want to judge them or live in fear either.

So, I get it. I can only manage my own Energy.

The health benefits after a year on a particular supplement

A year on a particular supplement

In my new book, Take It Upon Yourself to Live a Wholly Vibrant Life, I offer information on myriad holistic health and wellness modalities to those suffering from chronic ills.
The big blue bottle (read more here and here) that first attracted me to one particular supplement, came my way just as I was completing the book. We tried it not expecting much, but my husband and I both stayed on the supplement–and will stay on it–because we have and continue to experience an array of incredible health benefits. Note: I’ve removed the name of the supplement due to compliance issues.
From the second night, I fell asleep quickly and slept deeper than I had in years–all night long.
Issues I’d had with two teeth improved.
The allergies, or allergic reactions, that I’ve had most of my life have dramatically lessened. Case in point: I stayed six nights in my daughter’s 100 year old house in New Hampshire (August 2019) that I couldn’t be in for more than a few hours a year ago due to my allergies. This was #TheBest benefit ever, as my 7 year old sweetie pie granddaughter loves having sleepovers–and I got to sleep in her room on an air mattress next to her bed!

Since taking this one particular supplement, my heartbeat is stronger, as validated by my chiropractor kinesiologist. Before the blue bottle supplement, my heartbeat was irregular and a bit weak (via a heart listener machine that displayed results on a monitor).

I’ve now flown 9 times this year, when previously I couldn’t fly more than twice a year (and I had to put at least a week or month in between those two flights) without my ankles swelling, or becoming ill afterwards.
I’ve not been sick at all this year–no colds, flu–nothing!
I actually do not think I would have even considered flying to Europe had I not been taking this supplement. That’s how amazed I am with my new found level of health in this last year.
My husband’s back (from doing manual labor at work), is no longer sore or painful. I know one wouldn’t know that a graphics artist has to do manual labor, but he has to–he and his team. He creates the artworks, then trims, mounts, and installs (sometimes huge) items. And he just turned 69, so it’s a lot of stress on his body!

What’s in the bottle?

The liquid in the blue bottle is a breakthrough science. Beginning with purified water, the liquid goes through a proprietary electrical process that stabilizes the molecules (which are NATIVE to the body) and what comes out is a patented and scientifically studied supplement. When I say the word, NATIVE, that’s what’s important. Native means these cells already exist in the human body.
This is a non-toxic supplement. There are no contraindications with medications.
This supplement simply allows us all to drink something that puts the molecules which are already IN our bodies, but that with time we lose, BACK into our bodies!

Trying this supplement

Drinking this non-toxic supplement is sooo easy.
We keep a case (which is 4, 32 ounce bottles) in our pantry and one of the 32oz bottles in the fridge for daily consumption.
We now also, put some of this liquid in a little spray bottle! We spray some on our face, in our eyes, up our nose, and on any sore spots–and my husband is always thrilled when he gets immediate relief.

The gel is aWEsOMe!

As I’ve written about previously, I was astounded how much I could feel after only one application of the gel! And because I had put it on my neck, I could feel my heart beating a little faster. Thus, I knew this was doing something and excited to experience MORE!
After about three months of applying the gel on my face each morning, I began to notice that two different kinds of moles on my face lightened and had gotten smaller (one is nearly gone now)!
At dinner one night recently, a friend tried it on her TMJ sore points and was amazed at how quickly her pain subsided.
On my flight to the annual convention for this supplement a few days ago, I sat beside a nurse who happened to work for Sea World. She had a slight issue with one hand and I offered her a sample to put on it. When I turned around, she’d also put it on her neck and then moments later exclaimed, “I feel this working”!
The gel helped when we hiked 67 miles in 18 days in Europe in July 2019, and we had only taken carryon luggage (thus we couldn’t take our 32oz bottle of liquid with us). We simply rubbed the gel on our legs, ankles, and knees in order to ease the sore muscles and keep on walking!
We put 4.25 ounces (that’s how much this blue bottle holds) of this supplement into a spray bottle and use it to spritz our eyes, face, head, or anywhere on the body that we have an issue.

Everyone’s unique

Most people start drinking the supplement daily (2 ounces in the morning and 2 ounces in the evening), I haven’t heard my husband complain about his back at all after we doubled his dose in February 2019 (6 months after starting the product).
We do not claim the supplement is a panacea for all ills. We do not diagnose, treat, or claim this or any supplement is a cure.
Every human is different and will experience different results. The benefits outlined in this article are true for myself and my husband.
During our health meetings we see several people drink 2 ounces at the same time, and when we ask them how it tasted, several think it has no taste, some taste salt, and others taste something else. But we pour everyone’s samples right in front of them from the same bottle. This has proved to us that people’s needs and reactions vary.

Natural remedies for a cough or cold

Natural cold remedies

In a previous article, I listed some of the best natural remedies I rely on for reducing sinus congestion (garlic capsules), but this time, I want to focus on giving you some easy natural remedies whenever you have a cough or cold.

Apple Cider Vinegar mixture

This is one of the mixtures I either buy at a health food store, or make at home, which consists of:

  • Apple cider vinegar (ACV)
  • garlic
  • onions
  • cayenne
  • horseradish
  • ginger root (or ginger powder in the herb aisle of your grocery store)

I’ve tried a few different formulations of this concoction and it works every time I remember to take it.

Essential oils

As well, because these are small and easy to travel with, I take a few drops of Young Living Thieves blend, or lemon (as shown in this picture) of therapeutic essential oil and blend it (in a Vitamix high speed blender), along with one fresh organic cucumber, one lemon or lime, and an inch or two of ginger root water (peel first) and blend with 2 cups of water.

IMG_5689.jpg

I’ve also put a drop or two of the essential oils on my tongue and then drank this water but I’ve quit taking the oils that way. I’ve also dropped one drop of P73 Oreganol on my tongue–but it’s really spicy hot, so be careful if you decide to try that.

Tea, Bone broth, or Golden milk

Otherwise, if these remedy ideas seem too strong for you, you might like to try some warm tea, bone broth, or golden milk (which has turmeric in it). I love it! It’s super soothing. I have found bone broth to be hydrating and energizing.

Nasal rinse

At the first sign of congestion, I grab my netipot (or a clean condiment squirt bottle works too) and fill it with room temp purified water with a half teaspoon (more or less) of buffered salt (you can buy it where netipots are sold), and shake until the salt is fully dispersed in the water.

Over a bathroom sink, bend over a bit with head a bit to one side and squirt the saline water up each nostril. Tilt head to the other side to repeat squirting up the other nostril. Mucous will drain from opposing nostril than the one you are flowing water into.

Watch a YouTube video on this process if you are unsure about how to do it.

IMG_5686.jpg

Herbs and minerals

I also take herbs of Ashwaganda and Echinacea for 5 to 7 days during the time of experiencing any cold symptoms. For me, it helps. Your experience may be different.

Seek the help of a qualified licensed health practitioner, such as a naturopath or Doctor of Oriental Medicine.

I’ve also tried colloidal silver with varying results.

Elderberry deactivates the cold virus and strengthens cells so that our bodies can better resist a virus multiplying; also effective for removing congestion from the respiratory tract. Take daily through the winter. For age two-plus.

Here’s the honey I use also, if I add it to the tea–and the raw garlic:

IMG_5691.jpg

I’ve read that most Americans are deficient in magnesium and other minerals, so whenever I have a cough or cold, sore throat, I make sure that I’m taking my trace minerals, bathing in epsom salts, or that kind of thing. And if you don’t have a bathtub, just take 2 ounces of epsom salt with you in a little cup to the shower. Take some of it in your hand and rub it all over your body. Sure, it won’t stay on long, but every bit helps.

Homeopathy

I love these particular homeopathic pills. They are my go to remedy for lots of things. You can find that at most good health food stores. They’ll have a chart/booklet to help you with the ones you need. Or of course, you could consult with your naturopathic doctor to determine the best ones for you!

IMG_5690.jpg

Lastly, I haven’t had many coughs or colds since beginning the daily practice of drinking water out of a copper mug, and taking Redox (2 ounces in the morning and 2 ounces in the evening). Grand preventives!

For a concise helpful list of foods and herbs you might also take to ease a cold or flu, check out this article by Robyn Openshaw, The Green Smoothie Girl: https://greensmoothiegirl.com/immune-system-foods-herbs-spices/comment-page-1/#comment-512511

UPDATE: I hadn’t been sick in over a year, but picked up a “bug” after my trip to Sedona, AV in 2019 (some gals I had talked with during a retreat there, later said they became ill after getting home–they were all from other various parts of the country. Plus, my friend from New Mexico (whom I had seen 5 days after I had gotten back from Sedona), wasn’t feeling well, so I don’t know who I picked the bug up from, but it was going around.

My symptoms were: coughing, sneezing, sore throat, and chills! I had been out of our Redox cell signaling molecules for 4 days too, and I had not been using my copper mug!

For me, it just seemed to be the perfect storm of events to catch that cold, after sitting outside in the rain one evening, when the air had dropped to cooler temps. Ugh!

Thankfully, I followed most of my advice here and added a few more tips.

I called an herbalist friend who told me I didn’t need as much garlic, based on my symptoms, and that lemon balm tea, Pau D’arco, and Nettle tea were all good for me to take. And she suggested I take some Wild Cherry Bark syrup (but I only had the capsules). She also kindly dropped by a bag of her cold and cough blend of herbs for tea, which eased my cough considerably. I added White Willow Bark capsules, to help relieve the pain of the sore throat and only took them at night.

This time instead of taking cough drops, I took a teaspoon of manuka honey a few times a day and before bed, plus ate a few soft black licorice pieces.

My disclaimer: I offer this information for educational purposes only. You can use it to ask better questions of your licensed health practitioner. I am not a doctor. I am not diagnosing or offering any kind of treatment.

After this short cold in October 2019, then coming back from Ireland (December 2019) not feeling well, and actually wondering later if I’d had C*VID then, I learned about Mullein (a soothing herb), and I never leave home without it.

There are sooo many ways to assist and support our bodies and immune systems, that I feel whatever we need, we can find, but sometimes it is good if we can remind each other. And sometimes consistency is key to staying healthy.

I believe our bodies have innate healing abilities, as our skin heals on its own if we cut or burn it.

If it doesn’t hurt, why not give it a try?

The words in this post are my personal experiences only.

Even scientists and doctors disagree – how to find a good remedy

When scientists and doctors disagree, how DO you find a good remedy for your health issue? Most pharmaceutical prescription drugs only mask symptoms – they do not heal or cure. And what about natural remedies?

In my opinion, the number one way to know you’ve found a good natural health remedy is: it resolved your issue. You found relief. If you had a headache and you tried something that relieved your headache, you’re satisfied. Yet, what about all the other remedies you may have spent an arm and a leg on that didn’t work? If you’re reading this, you’ve probably bought a dozen over-the-counter (OTC) or natural remedies that didn’t do much for you (though you may not be willing to admit it).

I am not a doctor or licensed health practitioner, but I am an analyst and I spend a lot of time researching and trying out many natural health and wellness products. Being such a savvy gal in this regard, I can share some of the natural health remedies that have worked for me, and some of them may help you too!

7 ways to know you’ve found the right natural / holistic health remedy

#1- It worked. Admittedly, just because the natural remedy worked for you once, it may not always, or may not work for you in every instance. Also, that same remedy may not work for everyone else.

If you’re like me, you’ve raced out to tell all your friends and family of your delightful natural remedy discovery, only to find a less than enthusiastic response to your new found awareness. Most want want to hear about it, much less try it. Of those who love and trust you enough to try it – far less will experience the same astounding relief as you. Yet, it’s beneficial for you to keep a list of the things that worked for you. If and when others notice your results, they’ll get curious (perhaps) and ask you what  you are doing.

#2 – It’s been a successful remedy for centuries. This is certainly a good reason to try something, but until it has proven itself by actually resolving your problem, I don’t think it’s the best reason to rely on a particular remedy. Granted, before anything can work for you – you have to open your mind to try it and then, actually use it.

Just because a natural remedy hasn’t been used in your family, or even in your country, if it’s worked for millions of people, or been used for centuries, it’s probably worth checking into. Favorites are: Prayer (asking), Meditation (listening), exercising your Faith (Read the book, Biology of Belief for the science about how your very beliefs change cells), Acupuncture, Medical QiGong, Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), therapeutic essential oils (food grade quality only such as Young Living or DoTerra brands), consuming whole fresh (or cultured) food as medicine, moving your body–even gently to get your lymph moving, and deep breathing (such as the Yogic breathing called, Pranayama).

Did you know that you can burn Bay leaves (like sage) to use its smoke to clear the allergic response?

#3 – It’s made from common natural ingredients. This doesn’t always mean the remedy will be inexpensive, but if you read the ingredients and you can pronounce each one, you’ve at least narrowed down the list of potential side affects (granted some people are allergic to natural ingredients you can pronounce).

One of the best natural remedies I rely on for reducing sinus congestion is garlic capsules (a little tip from a registered nutritionist). Another I like, is a natural remedy for colds / flu, it’s a mixture of apple cider vinegar, garlic, onions, cayenne, horseradish, and ginger. I’ve tried a few different formulations of this concoction and it works every time. Or, I take a few drops of Young Living Thieves blend of therapeutic essential oil on my tongue and drink some water after a few seconds, or use one drop of P73 Oreganol on my tongue–depending on which oil I have handy.

If those remedies seem too strong for you, try some warm tea and one or two of any of the following: onions, garlic, apples, oranges, turmeric, black pepper, sea salt, ginger, and/or Bragg’s Apple Cider vinegar with the Mother to your diet (one, some, or all – probably not all at the same time) while your experiencing the cold/flu and see if you don’t find some relief. I’ve tried colloidal silver – pretty good stuff, but I cannot say it works on everything every time.

I love the Moringa tree leaf for natural energy and clarity, however, I am allergic to it (and I’ve even experimented with taking a small dose, or every other day)! So, some of these things just must be tried, one at a time, in order to know if they are helpful for YOU. Currently, I am taking Magnolia Extract with Honokiol. Honokiol is being researched in conjunction with Alzheimer’s prevention — A 2012 study showed that Honokiol reduces inflammation in brain tissue and another study indicated that it may reduce neuronal (brain) cell death, a factor of Alzheimer’s disease. As a preventive, I am personally trying hemp CBD oil now.

#4 – It’s been handed down through your family (or your friend’s family) for generations. I know by this time we’re really dealing with “word of mouth” and no one in your family kept a list of who all used the remedy, for how long, and what outcome they experienced. But eh, if it’s a simple remedy and one you can wrap your mind around – why not give it a try? I once had a friend help me easily get rid of a ganglion cyst on my wrist and I am quite sure that saved me a lot of hassle as well as, hundreds of dollars. As well, I didn’t have to take any drugs for it, endure x-rays, or surgery. I was a bit skeptical at first but she swore by the remedy and it was free! I used her procedure myself in the privacy of my own home and it worked! I really love those kinds of natural remedies. My grandmother (of Native American Cherokee Indian ancestry) could take the fire out of burns with a feather light touch to the area along with an intention and prayer (a form of Energy medicine) which, was handed down generation to generation male to female, then female to male. During my youth I experienced her healing touch several times–burns on my skin always healed quickly without a blister or scar.

#5 – it’s been recommended by my alternative, integrative or complimentary doctor, nutritionist, massage therapist, acupuncturist, chiropractor, or other holistic health licensed professional. I’m sure it depends upon how much pain you’re in, or how close to death you feel, but I’ve let it be known for awhile that I’d go to a witch doctor (okay, I think the more appropriate term Shaman) if I thought they could aid my body to heal itself. I believe God always wants what is best for us and will provide us a way, even if to some that “way” seems wacky. We’re meant to live a long, healthy, and abundant life! For those of you who believe, “I’ll only try it if SCIENCE has proven it to work” odds are, you’ll suffer (and die) before science figures everything out! If something works for me – that’s MY science. Case in point, there’s no “flu season”, that’s a marketing ploy from the pharmaceutical companies! I’ve gone out in the cold with wet hair daily for years, and never “caught” a cold or flu! (My mother bought into that myth, but I’ve proven it false). And it’s also been stated that one third of all people healed via traditional medical treatments are due to the placebo effect! (Read Dr. Bruce Lipton’s book, The Biology of Belief.)

I’m an observer too. And I am more than capable to log and track (uh, I’m a writer!) what works for me. I don’t care if it’s anecdotal experience. We are all anecdotes. Each of us are unique!

I’m asthma free because I never gave up until I found a combination of natural remedies that allowed my body to naturally heal from that issue. Oh, and actually I didn’t have to go to a witch doctor. Science changes – and it changes every day. Science is about experimenting, observing, testing, documenting the results, and using the same method, replicating the experiments in order to quantify and validate the results… and yet, many scientists and doctors argue and disagree!! That’s why you can’t just buy the latest book of scientific evidence on any topic. There will always be one group that says it’s quackery and one group that claims their “revelation” (what they are going to reveal) is God’s gift to humanity. Ugh. Everyone has to make money, but no one has to suffer!

#6 – It’s been recommended by my doctor. My husband’s doctor once made a quiet remark of a recommendation to my husband (I was in the room) whereby he stated that my husband “could eat a better balanced diet, OR take a few pills” while explaining that most people just “prefer pharmaceutical drugs” for their ailments. I listened respectfully, thought it really pissed me off. If the doctor would have given my husband a food diary, book on nutrition, maybe a cookbook, or calorie chart of some sort, then I might have believed his feeble attempt to change my hubby’s eating habits. Doctors only get one class on nutrition in all of their years of medical school, why? I have an idea, but you might not want to hear it! (Shhh… follow the money).

#7 – It’s been touted as effective by Prevention magazine, Dr. Oz, Hippocrates Health Institute (HHI), Natural News websites / shows, Dr. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. David Perlmutter, Dr. Joseph Mercola, Dr. Gabriel Cousens, etc. I don’t always agree with every article I read from these authors, doctors, or publications, however these experts are scary smart! They experiment, observe, test, and track results from thousands of patients and their outcomes in a systematic way. I often try their advice because I am the brave and adventurous type. However, I don’t take just one of their opinions, studies, or books, as the end all be all. I am also careful when someone says to, “trust me”, because I only really trust my body. If one of these doctors or scientists had all the answers, they wouldn’t disagree with each other! Remember, studies can be interpreted in multiple ways!

For me, I’ve just had too many different experiences from everything I have tried, to believe the one size fits all approach. Nonsense! I’ve tried the low-fat diet and I experienced brain fog, so much so in fact, that it impacted by logical analytical thinking (my job) — and because I’m in a technical industry, I must have a highly functioning brain!

There are many ways to naturally increase beauty – even small changes can have a big impact for your health and well being.
