2019: Review of a deeply heartfelt, well traveled, and winning year

2019 Year in Review: Heartfelt, Well traveled, and Winning

2019 was a deeply heartfelt year that created a lot of unexpected opportunities to travel, through loss and gain.

My husband and I drove across the state of Florida for me to emcee the Awakening Into the Sun outdoor yoga and music festival the first weekend in March (it’s an annual event). And this year we were so delighted to have my husband‘s sister and her husband join us! We all stayed at the Crystal Bay hotel in St. Pete and enjoyed a fun time at Caddy’s on the beach with friends too!

Heartfelt travel

Then deep sadness hit me only a few days later. My dad passed away in his sleep on March 8th. I wrote a long and meaningful eulogy for my papa here.

Can’t fly without you
Can’t fly without you.

Papa’s passing prompted my adult son and I to take a fast trip to West Virginia–with me doing all of the driving! I cannot even go into what a rushed and tiring trip this was. And grieving a lot of the way. But, I was glad to see the last property dad had bought, sit high on the ridge in peace and serenity, and have that entire road trip time with my son.

Later in the year, in September, I would find myself on another long road trip. This time, my husband and I took turns driving though. We drove from Florida to Tennessee for our sister-in-law, Mary Murrey’s funeral.

Sacred Celtic Journey

The trip I had booked in 2018 that was supposed to be taken in September 2019, was changed to July. And due to my father’s passing, my husband decided to join me and the group that was going.

It was a little last minute to pay for his ticket, but thankfully we knew before I had bought my airline ticket. And also thankfully, Patricia told us about Aer Lingus flights out of Orlando, and when I checked, they had non-stop flights for decent prices from Orlando to Dublin, Ireland (which was where our tour began). For more about that incredible trip, read all 3 parts, beginning here.

Seeing my girls

Went to NH to see my girls the week of Aug 5th. Only got to spend a week, but the best thing was that I got to sleep in my granddaughter’s room with her (that I couldn’t before without having breathing issues)! We had the best time!

Online classes

I participated in an 8 week class produced by the IONS group.
I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with our small group of 4 ladies in the Conscious Aging with facilitator, Beth Knight. This heartfelt group was sooo supportive and open to share meaningful life experiences!
I highly recommend taking this class if you’re over 50, or if you have any issues for yourself, parents, or other loved ones when it comes to embracing the aging process.
I also watched and bought the Keto Edge Summit package from Dr Jockers.
Near the end of the year, I hired a personal trainer for 12 sessions and astounded myself by how much I learned and what my body could do! I went from lifting 80 pounds to 200 pounds over the course of 3 months (due to illness, I had to skip some weeks), which really impressed me–read about that here.
About this same time, I hired a business coach and began working a one year plan, so my husband and I can work together to showcase his original music and art, travel, live off grid, and really combine his genius talent, experience, and education with mine. Read more about the direction we’re taking here.

Visiting friends in Florida

Finally, after saying we were going to see Tammy and Rodney for the last 10 years or so, we did it!! We took a weekend and went to Jupiter FL and the best bonus was that my elementary and high school friends, Nancy and husband, Jay, (who have lived in Stuart FL for years) got to join us!

We all had such a grand time that we want to go again!

Winning

I won a ticket to attend SoulTreat in Sedona AZ the weekend of Nov 2-3, 2019!!! I had two days on the red rocks and hike the same vortex behind the hotel where my Sedona siStars group had stayed when Alania and Patricia took us in 2016. I had an aWEsOMe experience and you can read more about that here.

But, before I could go to Sedona, I actually went to Las Vegas for an exciting health product convention! This was also a gift of a surprise when I had been told that my full-time job would end Nov. 30th (It didn’t and I may still be working through January 2020) and I reached out to my product sponsor that I needed to get busy sharing this product, (which my husband and I had been taking for a year). Read about that here.

Big News!

When we all thought my winning streak was over, I won again!

To me, all of this winning seemed to tell me that my papa wanted me to fly for him and enjoy all of the many opportunities in alignment for me. One of my intuitive friends told me it wasn’t only my dad lining these events up for me, but my grandfather! And for me, all I can do is say, “Thank You.” Thank you to all of my loving relatives here and in the Grand Beyond for these incredible and healing experiences!

Yes, I won a rare and highly prized ENTRY into the neolithic burial tomb Newgrange chamber for the 2019 Winter Solstice sunrise on Dec 18th!!! I was one of 60 people picked from 30,861 applications!!!

You can’t make this stuff up!

And the winning continued

At SoulTreat 2019 I bought $20 worth of raffle tickets and envisioned Shari Alyse calling out my name and saying that she was ecstatic that I, one of her SoulTreat winners, WON the Wellness pack worth over $1,000!!!

Well, Shari wasn’t the one who announced my name, but when Anna Pereira read my ticket number (which contained the number 18 that was synchronistic to me because of my dad), at first it took me a moment to realize it was me! Yep! I won this fantastic prize and it included a ticket to SoulTreat 2020!!!

After my flight home to Florida, I stuck to my commitment to present as a vendor at my local Women, Wine, and Wellness event in Cocoa (even though tired from a full day of travel and driving an hour from the airport). And won another gift there of a CBD pack, which I will be writing a product article about here. Stay tuned.

I invite you to stay tuned on the new coaching program I am currently putting together. If you have an interest in health, vitality, energy, consciousness, feeling better, and living a wholly vibrant life, I think you will love what I have in mind!

Integrating Spiritually with Neale Donald Walsch via Advanced Integrations

Integrating Spiritually

Yesterday, I manifested one of my dreams! I got to personally meet (via Zoom conference) one of my spiritual mentors and favorite author & speaker, Neale Donald Walsch. I am still tingling with the resonant Energy from the experience!

You see, from my first reading of Neale’s, Conversations with God books, beginning in 1995, and watching the movie Stephen Simon made of Neale’s life, Conversations with God, in 2006 (which some of you know, came after my Awakening experience in 2005), I have wanted to meet Neale and talk with him about God.

So, when the opportunity came up, synchronistically on my birthday this year (from receiving a member email of CWG Connect through the ASK NEALE feature on his website) for the amazing opportunity to join Neale’s monthly program called, Advanced Integrations, my heart jumped! And I joined this enlightened program without hesitation.

Advanced Integrations
Advanced Integrations

Yesterday, we had our first of two monthly group video calls. And I was so thrilled to take part in our conversation!

I was full of Energy, red-faced and flushed even before asking my question. (Neale gives those on the call the opportunity to ask a question). But, even if you don’t have a question, listening to all of the conversation is so engaging, uplifting, and enlightening! It’s one of the best group calls!

One of the group members asked Neale why we couldn’t always feel Connected to God all the time, (after she had an almost levitating spiritual experience), and he said (I’m paraphrasing from memory here), because though we are spirits in an earthly physical body, in essence we still have material stuff to do, work to enjoy, family to care for, bills to pay, and so on. It is our work to integrate spiritually (the purpose of this call is to learn new ways), and be able to immediately access God (or spirit, higher realms, etc), whenever and wherever we need or desire.

I will share in my next post, the question I asked and the playful answer I received.

Stay tuned! ❤️🦋🌀😉🥰

For some fun

Check out this original song, The Connection. My husband wrote this song (inspired by moi) and it was performed and recorded in a Nashville, TN studio. You can download it (it’s Track 14) from this link: https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/chevyfordband2

Book Review: Riding the Dark Horse And the Fall of Man

Riding the Dark Horse And the Fall of Man was a deeply engaging book to read and study! After taking more than two months to read, research, and fully absorb this intricately written book, here’s my review:

As a reader and author of non-fiction works, I’ve taken my time to dig into Lama Nicholas Packard’s exceptional writing about the Fall of Man.
From the “Contents” section to the “About the Author” pages, this intelligent and insightful book is well put together and nicely organized. In fact, I didn’t find one typo. That means a lot since typos nearly always jump off the page to me!
I took so long to read this enlightening book, because I felt it worthy of an in depth study. I would read one or two chapters at a time, ponder what I’d read, and then research some of the historical points of what had been presented.
Book cover - Riding the Dark Horse.jpg
As I read, I learned quite a lot about Western culture and how we’ve wound up in the mess that we’re in! I dug deep, underlining many passages–all while learning many reasons why people get caught up in consumerism.
Considering this book focuses a great deal on cultural history, as an aside let me explain that Lama Nicholas and I share a similar background. Lama Nicholas was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I was born and raised in the Mid-Ohio Valley area of West Virginia, often called the Chemical Valley–and in my youth, Pittsburgh was one of the closest metropolitan cities to my hometown.
In Lama Nicholas’ early career he moved to Washington, D.C., New York and Italy, but he eventually gave up everything to live a life of personal transformation and renunciation. He has lived, studied, and practiced as a healer in India , China, Tibet, Bhutan, and Thailand. Conversely, I only moved from West Virginia to Florida (primarily to escape the chemicals in that environment so I could breathe easier), and chose a simple life of living full-time in an RV (mainly to reduce expenses).
Similar to Lama Nicholas, I’ve studied and worked alongside those of different cultures, and languages. When I was in college, as well as at work (in the IT industry) I’ve sat beside and gotten to know many people from different backgrounds, religions, beliefs, and who spoke differing languages.
Something I noticed through the years, was that even though I couldn’t always understand an international person’s dialect very well (typically because they learned English as a second language and continued to speak their mother tongue at home), I found that if I looked at them directly–in the eye–I could get a sense of the person. This knowing somehow helped me focus, and improve our communication.
I’ve met Lama Nicholas Packard in person and listened to many of his presentations when he’s visited the St. Petersburg, Florida area. I feel very fortunate to have been able to meet him and learn from him. Thus, I could hear his voice often as I read the pages of “Riding the Dark Horse.”
I’ve even had a healing session with Lama Nicholas, which you can read here. But I digress. Let me return to my review of his book.
The book is organized into three parts.
The first part lays out how man separates from heaven. The second part presents how man separates from nature. The final part presents how man separates from self.
As I read, I grasped the importance of this work. This book could serve to answer many questions for myriad of seekers. Read it.
The first 9 chapters give a broad brush background, and details about Plato and Aristotle to help the reader understand the beginnings of, and the meaning of Duality. And how the obsession of worldly desires began to shake the very foundations of culture and religious beliefs.
I read about the Cathars, whom I had only first heard about a few years ago. Catharism focused on spirituality, which was unaccepted by the Roman Catholic Church. Thus spirituality and religion were split. The Cathars believed that the Church moved far from the true nature of God, instead becoming drawn into ritual, power, materialism, and sensual gratification.
Think about the rites and traditions of  your church, if indeed you attend any of the large organized religious churches–most of which have somehow descended from Catholicism.
Have you wondered why sometimes you attend church out of habit, not because you feel an intense thirst to seek the face of God?
I was raised to seek the presence of God by going to church, and had been told that my particular faith was “the one true church.” Sensing that may not be all there was to it, as a teenager I attended other churches. And over the years, attending each church provided me varying degrees of “Connection”–or you might say, “a feeling of God’s presence.” But, as for “one true church” I don’t believe that anymore. Instead, I turn within. And perhaps that is why I am open to books such as this one.
Chapter 10 was one of my favorite, and most marked chapters. I won’t spoil it for you and describe it, but to convey my take-aways (what I got out of it). The following are the notes I wrote in the blank spaces:
  • We have free will to consciously access God
  • God is in every breath, every molecule of air
  • Amazing and authentic history of the Cathars – yes!
  • Many Cathars consciously chose to be burned at the stake
  • The Cathars felt they had fully realized God
  • Realize = Real Eyes
  • Abandon Dogma – yes! There’s also a Dogma within Science
  • Churches only feed milk
  • Any spirit independent of the Holy Spirit was called wrong, bad, evil (Duality)
  • What’s wrong with a person’s individual spirit?
  • Giordano Bruno – heliocentric universe, without limitation, unfathomable, infinite – yes!
  • Body can be destroyed by weapons and fire, but not the human spirit
  • The Church adopted Aristotle’s view
Chapter 11 goes on to explain how Galileo used a mathematical model to challenge the Churches authority, by proving their “truths” wrong. He did not believe in the same ideas as Plato and Aristotle.
Chapter 12 presents Isaac Newton’s discoveries and world of reason and mechanic predictability. Newton killed Aristotle’s ideas. Newton wasn’t a religious person, but he was a spiritual person. He was always concerned about what links the immaterial to the material; believing in an immanent God, and a pure substance called, ether. Yes, Newton believed in an invisible force, spirit, or chi that could organize life and act over great distances. His peers and eventually, scientists, disagree with Newton’s esoteric leanings. But I question, what is hidden or occult, if God is Omniscience?
Ah, then again, I am a spiritual and mystical person with deep knowing of our Limitless Creator Source God, and as an educated mathematical and analytical type, I think in terms of reducing the complex down to its smallest common denominator. Breathing into this, I must try to stick to the subject at hand.
Chapter 13 ends the first part of the book with us learning more about how Westerner’s have been conditioned to believe in Duality and Materialism.
In the second part of Lama Nicholas’ book we look at Descartes and how he’s a bit like Byron Katie, always asking what is real and true. Descartes gave humanity a new philosophy, to give humans the permission to rule nature.
We see that the new age in the West is really all about Science. Most people were educated in the public school system to turn away from anything to do with heart and soul, and definitely anything of a spiritual nature was left to the Church (and as stated earlier, that was defined in a narrow sense, being the Holy Spirit). Predominately, students were taught scientific theories, including evolution.
Sorry to diverge once more, but I must say that few things upset me more than to think about how the Native Americans had been forced to attend public school, in a blatant attempt to civilize them and strip away their natural beliefs. I am part Cherokee and I still remember the disempowering stories my grandmother shared with me about her childhood. It’s perhaps a strong reason why today, I embrace diversity.
It seems we only have free will insomuch as it suits the ruling class of the place and time.
Reading about natural considerations, artificiality, and the monster Descartes created (the ego), I understood how the West came to believe in the split of mind and body.
Apparently, this mind-body split needed to occur in order for science, and eventually, chemical, mechanical, and pharmaceutical industries to take hold. And instead of living as the Native Americans had in harmony with nature, we wouldn’t flow with nature, we would control it.
The Reformation dramatically changed the Church. There had been a time when all of the Catholic churches were torn down and Protestant ones built in their place. And that the view, or interpretation, of Christianity changed too. Alters were stripped of idols and sermons were no longer preached in the Latin language.
In the third part of this informative book, we learn that the Western perception of reality was changing, and not for the better. Instead of embracing ourselves in a holistic way, we began to experience the world more abstractly, through words over the wire, words on paper, and eventually, screens–certainly less physically connected.
It is explained that in spiritual traditions, the essence of a person is honored, their words only explaining who they are, as much as the garments one wears show you who they are.
Continuing, we learn about the Renaissance and Newtonian physics and how these shaped the Western mechanical and non-spiritual mindset. And that we welcomed a rebirth of Greek culture for it’s art, heroes, and warriors–but of course!
Modernity is presented, with all of the why and wherefore of it with the rise of educational institutions to teach engineering, to build our infrastructure, train civil libertarians, and indoctrinate our politics with secularism. We needed modernity with its principles of progress, didn’t we? We all know Western medicine and good sanitation have been welcome advances–or have they? But where I feel it falls apart is that we’ve allowed modernity to shape our material reality.
The last chapter reveals much about our true nature and if we can be awake and aware, how we can live moment-to-moment in alignment with our true nature–and not be afraid of it. Talk about a light at the end of a tunnel! Namaste.
Things I loved learning about this book:
  • The laying bare of how we got here
  • The most important non-event in the history of the West
  • Reading about the seed of life; the spirit behind everything
  • The understanding of how America came to be such a competitive society
  • The stories of individuality within each culture
  • What the mind seeks to know and the heart’s instinct
  • What conscience, essence, and potential are
  • Why so many yearn to find their purpose
  • Why so many don’t believe God speaks anymore
  • Each is a product of his/her past conditioning
  • Why some cannot/will not listen to anything about holistic health
  • That the global community is an artificial construct
  • How Science replaced a Divine Creator for many
Areas that I would love learning more about:
  • How we can live more in tune with the natural ebb and flow of life
  • Even a baby can be scared, will jump if you startle it–why?
  • How or why we store trauma in the cells of our body
  • How to live more peacefully and with more vitality from the Eastern traditions
  • Name the virtues and provide practical ways to live virtuously each day
  • Ways of practicing non-attachment
  • Methods of meditation and healing
  • What we are ascending to–what’s next?
  • If peace can be found by renouncing our desires, why do we desire?
  • Direct experience can be so painful–do not the most wise learn from others?

Thank you, Lama Nicholas! I’d love to read a second book!

2016: Review of a productive and enlightening year!

The year of 2016 has been a banner year of self discovery for me!! What a whirlwind of knowledge and experiential learning–and this is my review of such a productive and enlightening year:

After having completed Dr. Alison J Kay’s teleseries which had begun in Dec 2015, but wrapped up in January 2016–see more about that here, I believe it certainly set me up for quite a fantastic 2016! And I highly recommend Alison’s courses to everyone–especially if you want to have a banner year!

I began volunteering in January/February at Awakening Wellness center. I so loved meeting so many people there and being off service. Just the energy of being in a wellness center, where people could come for sessions and I could learn how to help, was such a joy! My heart warmed with each and every connection.

During this time, I met my naturopath and was urged to go back to a diet my husband and I had tried, but had given up years earlier–Dr. D’Adamo’s Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type. Two days after changing my diet, the stiffness in my ankles disappeared! Over the next few weeks I could think more clearly. As the months went on it became easier and easier to avoid the foods that Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo tells me are toxic to my body.

Then in February, I took Rev. Michael Beckwith’s six-week Master class online with Mind Valley. (Cost: About $300) I wrote a blog article especially about the program here.

The following is a brief summary of what I learned:

  • I learned and implemented the following thought: I cannot stop birds from flying around my head, but I can prevent them from nesting in my hair.
  • Affirmative and agenda-less prayer and meditation can always shift me back into Gratitude.
  • Faith, only as small as the size of a mustard seed, is all it takes to move the proverbial mountains in our life. Really.
  • Stay my attention on the changeless reality of my inner self, don’t look to the external world for fulfillment.
  • Silently converse with my own heart, commune with joy in my heart.

Meditate or affirm in prayer: I renounce any sense of being bound by personal history, habit, experience, or circumstance. I’m free as spirit is free.

In March, I volunteered and had the ultimate privilege to greet every vendor as they were setting up at our huge Awakening Into The Sun (a Zen festival) in downtown St. Petersburg. I had the utter joy of bringing in two vendors to the event too! Emily Stein and the Breakthrough group.

Throughout the two day event, I kept checking in with them–’cause that’s how I roll! I always want to ensure everyone’s ease and happiness while they’re at this fantastic event. We also bought concert tickets for, and attended, the Awakening pre-show. Both my husband and I immensely enjoyed the entertainers! They were all aWEsOMe!

Emily Stein (whom my husband and I took a class with) was one of the Awakening Into The Sun vendors. And I got to meet Emily’s mom! I love these powerful ladies! Such vibrancy! Beautiful spirits! I’m looking forward to spending more time with them in 2017.

Also that month, my daughter experienced a miscarriage. It was gut-wrenching. And since I’ve never been through it, I was truly at a loss for words. I felt helpless, without any way to offer her comfort. And since I had also signed up for, and was in the beginning of an eight-week class, though I wanted to grab a flight to New Hampshire to hug my daughter, I couldn’t get there until May. To ease the gap, and also to help my daughter in any small way that I could, I remembered that a friend of mine and hypnotherapist, had written a book on the subject of miscarriage. And it’s not a subject that very many people talk about!

So, I bought both of us a copy of Angel Babies and we read it together (via distance) and I believe that helped (at least a little bit) to ease my daughter’s mind, as well as, help myself–as the grandmother–to release my sad emotions and also feel and somehow relate a bit more to my mother’s feelings of loss–as she had lost five babies (my unborn siblings) when I was a child. You can find Patricia’s amazing book “Angel Babies” here. (Cost: Book: $15.95 or less on Amazon. Being able to offer comfort: Priceless)

As for that eight-week voice / energy class, I was able to continue, and I am sure it helped me too (to ease the sadness I was feeling for my daughter) with the Breakthrough Performance Workshop — and it did turn out to be a phenomenal experience!

Every week our little group of would-be singers were given a song to sing, sometimes a song we’d never heard of, and we would break through any mental barriers, stretch our voice, find our courage, and build our confidence by practicing the song at home, and then in front of the group at our next practice. Eventually, we videoed each other and learned what we liked, or didn’t like about each performance to build our stamina, poise, and performance ability.

Singing with Breakthrough band.png

When the night of our concert finally came, even with a pulled neck (which was my silly fault for trying to get into a way too tight garment) I got to do something I’d always dreamed of–to sing a solo with a live band! (Cost: $1200 plus)

After all of this amazing work, you must know how strong I was feeling, emotionally and physically. I’d been doing Pilates for about a year at this point, so on April 21 when I tripped over an ill placed box of printer paper, it really jolted me. I thought, “oh no, now here we go” and figured I might have really hurt one of my wrists, which I had landed on with nearly all of my body weight. But, to my joy and surprise, I didn’t break any bones and I healed quite quickly–only needed a couple of massages by my friend Tiffiny, and one acupuncture treatment. Read about Tiffiny’s massage therapy here.
(Cost over $200; and never got compensated from workman’s comp)

On May 5th, I was blessed to spend Mother’s Day in New Hampshire with my daughter and granddaughter. How much love! Like a sponge, every time we’re together I always soak in every moment. Lots of laughter, play, hugs, kisses, and singing! However, there was something or other in their hundred year old house that irritated my eyes and lungs, so once I returned home, I coughed for a couple of months and couldn’t sing for a long time.

In May, I also joyfully became a Florida Notary Public. And performed my first official wedding for Jessica and Phillip Walling, May 21st, 2016 at a beautiful outdoor venue. If you know anyone getting married in the Central Florida area, Tampa Bay area, or eastern part of Florida, let me know! It thrills my soul to be able to officiate weddings! I love being able to bring two people together with love and harmony.

The most fantastic news came by June–my daughter had conceived again!! And the most aWEsOMe of news was that… she’s having TWINS!!!!

The summer seemed to keep me busy… I attended several different meetups and finished several books.

In September, instead of my usual pilgrimage to New Hampshire for my granddaughter’s birthday, I’d learned that my daughter’s father and his wife were going to visit. So, that freed up my schedule. And I took advantage of this for ME! I took a once in a lifetime trip to Sedona AZ.

Unlike any other vacation, this trip was just for my Self, with two facilitators I have met and worked with, along with twelve other like-minded ladies, most of whom were unknown to me before the journey, but most became friends! I was full of Energy the whole time I was in Arizona, and felt like a kid again while hiking and exploring!! You can read the blog article I wrote about my Sedona trip here.

The downside was that while I was away, my husband fell and broke his wrist and our fridge quit working. I came home to my hubby needing me to help him get out of a shirt, empty and clean out our fridge, wash dishes (which he normally does), and so on. Our joke was that I climbed five mountains in five days and didn’t even break a nail, but he fell coming into the RV and broke the first bone he’s ever broken in his life. We tried any way we could to make light of the situation, so that I wouldn’t feel bad about having taken my solo vacation, and to help him heal and not feel depressed about not being able to play guitar, and not feel guilty about not being able to do regular household tasks.

However, three days after I arrived home from Sedona, I began coughing. Eventually, and not soon enough, I went to see my naturopath, Maggie. If only I had went to see her sooner, I’d not have suffered for a month or more! I found some relief as soon as I took the first homeopathic remedy–which, I realize, sounds incredible!

Apparently, I’d had several different kinds of things going on. I had markers for viruses, mold, two kinds of flu, and mycoplasma. Physically, I was a hot mess. I made a vow to refocus my attention on getting well–and staying well!

In September, I met Dr. Ronald K. Porter at Miracles bookstore. Ronald teaches Pranayama breathing and yoga and this was a workshop that I definitely needed. (Cost: $10) A nagging nerve pain that I’d had in my right knee was healed during the workshop–only from my focus on learning the breathing techniques!! I was thrilled! I loved the class so much that I started going to Dr. Porter’s yoga classes at Metro and invited friends to join me! Also, when Ronald was teaching the Pranayama class at Miracles again, I invited my friend Karen to go with me–and we had a great time!

Also in September, I attended a free yoga movie night in Sarasota and bought six DVDs directly from the filmmaker ($100). At that event, I met a new friend and she invited to see Sadhguru (who would be in Sarasota a week later). As it turned out, I was given a promo ticket for writing a blog article about Sadhguru’s book launch event, and received a copy of his new book!) What’s really interesting about this, and totally synchronistic was that all of this occured just a week after finding Sadhguru on YouTube while searching for more videos on Pranayama breathing!

November brought more enlightening events. On the 9th I attended a healing workshop at Heatherhoney’s center in Brandon. There I met Veronica, who facilitated the event and used Young Living essential oils to raise our vibration. Now I have been a Young Living essential oils distributor for years, but I’ve only used the oils in my own self-care and to give as gifts when I meet someone in need. So I’m always happy to continue experiencing how I can share these healthy oils–this event gave me more ideas on sharing.

I arrived early to the meeting and talked with Veronica a bit about a friend of ours who is suffering with ALS. Veronica asked me if our friend would be open to Alternative treatments, and if I had heard of the Medical Medium. Anthony William, the Medical Medium, has millions of people listening to him. And now I am too. Naturally, I was super excited to learn that there might be other ways to help our friend, so I passed all of what I learned to our friend to potentially ease her suffering.

Mid November, I took six FREE meditation classes from BKTampa.org – Brahma Kumari’s on Saturday and Sunday mornings in Tampa. Yes, I had to make the effort to drive 20+ miles to attend, but it was so mind expanding! I am grateful that there are teachers who make themselves available to teach meditation to anyone who will take the time to learn.

In another synchronistic meeting, I was invited to, and attended a healing event at the beautiful and energy-filled Crystal Bay hotel in St Petersburg, where I received a word from Dr. Mark Tong about exercising and that I should continue doing so. How could he have known that I had ramped up my yoga and Pilates!! Wow! After the event ended, my friend Terri introduced me to Linda McCarthy. As Linda and I talked, I experienced God bumps, which always validates that a conversation is of utmost importance to me (or perhaps, to my Soul).

Linda and I talked outside of the hotel until nearly everyone had gone. She gave me the audiobook called, The Reconnection. This was only just a week after I had found Dr. Eric Pearl on YouTube!!!

As the year ended, it found me celebrating a full and robust year of learning and implementing many of the new found mind-body and spirit-filled tools, which have increased my confidence, health, and well-being to overflowing!

I continue daily to practice meditation, yoga, Pranayama breathing, Pilates (twice a week), and singing / chanting to reach a higher and deeper sense of self and spiritual connectivity with our Ever-Living, Filling-All-Space, LIMITLESS Creator. Oh what a profound and beautiful year it has been!

I send you all many blessings, in ALL ways for a brilliant and uplifting 2017! Happy New Year!

Why I meditate daily

Time for meditation

The day after Beau (our beloved 14 year old male Shih-Tzu) crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I realized our morning walk (when I’d do my walking meditation) could become my regular sitting meditation practice time.

I knew I could honor Beau (during my meditation time) by sitting with a blanket in the spot where he had made his transition to the “beyond”. Also, I could place the two small stuffed animals (my loving husband had given me years ago) near me, to sort of represent our kids with fur, Beau and Lou-Lou. Two little stuffed representatives to comfort me somehow.

Why meditate?

  • To center oneself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually within your being
  • To nurture self and enhance well-being
  • To take note of thoughts
  • To expand the space between thoughts – which sharpens one’s focus over time and makes the mind serviceable
  • To allow self to connect with God – our LIMITLESS Ever-Living Filling-All-Space Creator. (More about that connection here.)

My meditation time is priceless to me.

Meditation class

After taking structured meditation classes, I realize that I’ve always meditated, just not in any structured way. I have learned methods from Dr. Alison J. Kay and a MeetUp group, and I continue to learn.

A couple of weeks into my new sitting meditation routine, I visited Alania Starhawk’s crystal shop and studio in Largo, FL (Alania also runs a MeetUp group) and I was drawn to two wonderful “sister” crystals, which I brought home and proceeded to incorporate into my meditation seating arrangement.

Beginning to meditate

When I begin my actual meditation, I set a timer next to me (UPDATE: I was right, after two months, I did not need the timer).

I settle and relax my body into a comfortable position with my legs crossed.

I envision the light from the sister crystal next to my left foot, entering my body in a spiral fashion, clicking into place all of the gears or points of connection on each chakra wheel (beginning with the root/red chakra, sacral/orange, solar plexus/yellow (always visualizing a sun rise), up into the heart/green chakra (where everything grows from the sun and filters out as love to all in my community, city, county, state, country, continent, and world), then blooming into the throat/blue chakra, and continuing to the purple third-eye chakra, where levers and switches get flipped up or down, and re-calibrate as necessary whatever needs to be accurately tuned, through the very essence and into the center of my body, aligning my spine, reaching out through the light of the other sister crystal in my right hand, and finally, connecting with Limitless Creator Source Energy God via my crown chakra (top of my head).

Then, I naturally come out of my meditation with a word, or phrase from the Divine.

Honored Connections

When Beau passed, I wanted a pillow with a picture of him on it, but it took me awhile to figure out the picture and how to obtain it.

One day, I looked at the beautiful Awakened Fibers wall hanging in our bedroom and realized who I’d ask. I reached out to Mary Ann Pickard, owner of Awakened Fibers — and she was more than happy to create my Beau pillow! I commissioned her to make one pillow for me and one for my granddaughter (who also loved Beau, often asking to see him when we’d Skype or Google Hangout).

Once the pillows were finished, I met Mary Ann to pick them up. I was elated! She had lovingly designed and created such extraordinary pillows! So much detail, like the hidden zipper (so Jennie wouldn’t catch herself on it), along with super neat trim (blue cording on mine / frilly lace on Jennie’s) — really artistically crafted!

Meditate daily

Upon returning home, I immediately sensed that I would use my new “Beau pillow” during my meditation.

My yellow shirt is from India Artisans in Sarasota – located right next door to the Crystal Cave (another crystal shop I love and highly recommend).

Other meditations

Moving meditation

I did stair climbing meditation five days a week for more than two years. I used that time to de-stress from my tasks, stretch, practice Jin Shin Jyutsu, pray, and even practice Pilates and other movements to build and tone my body. I gained much calm during that time.

Sitting meditation

My sitting meditation is something I really look forward to each morning though. It’s a quiet, tranquil time where I feel totally nurtured and supported by All There Is. A time where the walls of “me” melt away and allow me to become ONE with All There Is, know and feel exceedingly that, We Are All Connected.

Focused meditation

You don’t need to have “things” around you when you meditate – but I have found that for now, these are pleasing to me and anchor me to my little piece of heaven on earth.

Quick recap

You can actually meditate with your eyes open! Just pick a point to focus on. Also, clearing your mind isn’t the goal. The goal (over time with consistent practice) is to make the mind serviceable.
You can use a phrase instead of a word. You can try walking meditation if sitting annoys you. The point is to observe and detach. Notice who (or what) is thinking the thoughts and let each gracefully float away.
Oh, and no spirituality is required. OM

UPDATE April 2019:

My morning routine has changed. Now, I mentally say, “Thank you.” Then before I get out of bed, I do this actual breathwork (yes, with this link):

https://youtu.be/lcC_DUtNr1M

Then, before brushing my teeth I look in the bathroom mirror, look into my eyes and say out loud, “Thank you mom and thank you dad for creating me”! (As both are in the Grand Beyond now). And then shower, dress, and do some yoga, Pilates, and/or Qigong. And I take my ASEA.

Later in the morning, I do this exercise too:

For beginners

Here are a few things I’ve found in common between all the various meditation teachers I have learned from:

  • Focus on your breath
  • Your mind will wander
  • As thoughts enter, allow them to float on by as if on a cloud
  • Stay unattached to external sounds or environmental conditions
  • Return to the breath
  • Start with one or two minutes
  • Sit comfortably in the same place each day
  • Try to meditate at the same time each day

After some practice, allowing the thoughts to float by and finding the space growing in between the thoughts is what is most important. Namaste. OM ❤️🦋🌀🙏
