In previous articles, I listed some of the best natural remedies I rely on for reducing sinus congestion (garlic capsules) and cough or cold. Now, I’d like to introduce you to the additions to my cold remedies cabinet for 2021/2022: https://beingwhollyvibrant.wordpress.com/2018/04/19/natural-remedies-for-a-cough-or-cold/
During virus season
I use a Neti pot (use this every morning and night to keep your sinuses clean and clear) and whenever I leave a store or other public place, I blow my nose fairly forcefully to clear my sinuses of anything I many have just picked up. This simple practice has helped keep me well during the 2020-2022 years.
During time visiting in hospital
For a head/throat cold-like bug (upper respiratory infection) I picked up while visiting my husband (who was in the hospital for 9 days), here’s what I took–and I rotated these depending on how I felt and what my symptoms were:
- Neti pot (used twice a day)
- Gargle with salt water (twice a day or whenever throat is sore)
- N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) taken every 4 hours with food as needed
- Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and Zinc
- Young Living essential oil, Thieves and also in cough drops
- Mullein (for dry coughs)
- Garlic (capsules or in food, as needed to clear phlegm)
- P73 Oreganol (as explained in previous linked article)
- Good Energy (previously named, Nourish & Recharge Formula)
- Propolis
- L-Lysine
- Slippery Elm
- Neem
- Turkey Tail
- Marshmallow Root
- Holy Basil
- Ginger root (though this is warming, so if you have any other issues, such as damp-heat, you’ll want to avoid this or be prepared for the other issue to reoccur)
- Various tea, though the Clear Lungs tea made a measurable improvement, less coughing
- Various herbal supplements, and Good Energy made the most difference
- Various cough drops, some with zinc
When this first started I grabbed my Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Zinc (I’d already been taking Ashwagandha and simply continued taking it all through my 10-day coughing, froggy voice, and sore throat ordeal):

Tea
The best tea I’ve found is, Clear Lungs tea made by my friend, Christina Slotin. You can order this tea and the Good Energy and other herbal supplements at:

Lastly, I don’t get many colds when I remember to stir my tea with a copper spoon!

There are sooo many ways to assist and support our bodies and immune systems, that I feel whatever we need, we can find, but sometimes it is good if we can remind each other. And sometimes consistency is key to staying healthy.
I believe our bodies have innate healing abilities, as our skin heals on its own if we cut or burn it.
If it doesn’t hurt, why not give it a try?
