But my problem was, I didn’t reach out to Robyn (or search her blog), reach out to anyone, or even read my own book, when I experienced DEPRESSING THOUGHTS!
Thankfully, I was able to pull out of the DEEP dark hole in mind, but it was a scary time! I didn’t even cry (as I would have years ago). But my strong WILL kicked in at some point, and I told myself, “Go for a walk.” That’s right! As simple and innocuous as that sounds, just getting off my rear and stepping outside, really was the beginning to me getting my Life back!
I started noting things I noticed in Nature. I started noting new thoughts as they dropped into my mind, as I was walking.
After a few weeks, I had started a new diet program that came my way. And I had started some new supplements.
I found a bit of relief with each step I took. Yes, I did.
But what became even more exciting was that I began to codify my thought processes and subsequent actions.
And all of that is what I pulled together to create the loose, creative framework for others to use in building their own daily ritual(s) called, Integrated Spiral™.
Because we already have all the books, videos, podcasts, tools, and such to get ourselves healthy and happy, but not the processes in place to integrate them into each day!
And the thing is, practicing simply a few Integrated Spiral methods, the first is something I call, Gratitude F-L-O-W, you can begin to experience a mood lift! I love uplifting others. Now, we can help each other. It is possible to feel better, relieve anxious feelings and find relief from the struggle. Let’s talk.
A bit about me, your Spiral Sister
I’m an open vessel of Spirit (Source | Omniscience | Energy) offering a 4-week, small group, self-coaching transformational program called, Integrated Spiral. Mindful daily practices to apply what we have and bring us back into balance: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Expanding our perspectives to diffuse tension (within ourselves) and empower (and improve) our relationships—even the ones we think we’ve lost.

Self Care, Anti-aging (or “sage-ing”) with Primal Life Organics
I have added some new products by Primal Life Organics to my self care and anti-aging or “sage-ing” routine. 🌅💦🌱
I don’t wear makeup (haven’t for about 10 years anyway), but I thought I’d try Primal Life Organics face foundation makeup for whenever we get the opportunity to perform our music out “LIVE” again.
I love that these come in sample sizes, as that is all I will use in a couple years! Ha! And they allow you to add as much or little as you need to achieve the coverage you want, wet or dry!
You can also mix and blend these colors to get the perfect color for you! Sure to compliment your skin tone, and so easy!
I also really love Primal Life Organics’ Stick Up™ natural deodorant! I actually only have to apply it every other day or so! (Quite inexpensive in my particular case.)
See what a fan I am of natural products? Haha! In the next pic, I show the near powder consistency of this deodorant and that it makes it easy to apply!
I’m always using natural products to help my body detox and restore balance (as just living in today’s world is toxic on many levels)! 😉
It’s so easy to apply, and when massaged in, gives you a bit extra self care to your underarm lymph nodes! (As you know, our lymph nodes and entire lymphatic system will enjoy and use all the help we can give it!) ❤️
This is what I call a double duty natural remedy—when you get double (or more) benefits from one product!
My weight loss journey continues with the assistance of Primal Life Organics’ weight loss system, Weight Loss Naturally Supplement. (As shown from their email to me below):
No more need to use water to wash your hair when traveling or incapacitated.
Love my naturally curly hair with this aWEsOMe product
My naturally curly hair stays in bouncy style with this texturizing spray by Primal Life Organics on wet hair.
Like I stated in a previous blog article, living Off Grid, I’ve made a lot of adjustments and sacrifices, like not having hot water! So, when I wash my hair (once a week), I don’t want to use much on it to maintain bouncy curls. Primal Life Organics has hit a home run with this product though! I love it! My curls are defined, and look fantastic, even the next day (after sleeping), and for several days! Game changer for me! And it’s EASY!
Results from use of the Carrot Seed Facial Package from Primal Life Organics
From my previous article where I introduced you to Primal Life Organics’ Carrot Seed Skincare Package, this is the follow up I promised:
WOW! A carrot seed oil face cleansing and moisturizing system that IS truly wonderful for any type of skin!
Ease of consistent use
I am NOT a “beauty routine” kind of gal, but this system was sooo easy to use and integrate into my morning routine! It was actually enjoyable!
Starting from the first day, I was eager to wash my face with the luxurious carrot seed oil cleanser. I looked forward to its bubbly creamy consistency every morning, so that prompted me to continue using it day after day!
My skin is aging and sensitive, so I was excited to experience the rejuvenating properties of this carrot seed oil skin care from Primal Life Organics.
I started noticing a difference in my face pretty quickly!
Skin texture improved
Skin stayed smooth
Skin stayed hydrated all day (no dry or flaky areas!)
Age spots began to fade, or become less noticeable
Before and After
I know it may be difficult to see the difference in my skin from these pictures, but I can see it and FEEL the difference!
Note: Disregard the redness beside my nose from my eyeglasses. And the lighting is different in these photos.
If you want to experience any of these benefits for yourself, here’s how to order:

“It can’t hurt” has been a guiding principle for me for many years. A philosophy that I have applied in many areas of my life, in particular to new strategies in business and in health matters.
Health strategies that can’t hurt
Eat more nutritious food
One of the easiest and best things each of us can do to live a healthier life, is simply to eat more nutritious food, preferably quality organic, local, fresh foods. It can’t hurt.
Another easy way to improve our health is to move more. I’m not talking about going from couch potato to marathon runner overnight, but start with 5 minutes and increase your movement (calisthenics, walking, dance, yoga, qigong, or such), everyday until you can build up to 40 minutes of movement. Measure and monitor yourself. If you ease into movement, it can’t hurt.
Yes, the opposite of moving is stillness. Take control over your mind and body to sit quietly for a few minutes each day and focus on your breath. The new science is showing positive results, yes, physical improvements, from simply meditating. Try it. It can’t hurt.
A grand strategy that everyone can do is to detox. Pick your favorite detoxifying method and do it regularly. Once a year, quarterly, or monthly. We all get too many chemicals in us, via breathing, food, water, what we wear, and what we put on our skin. It can’t hurt.
Holistic health & Holism
I was telling my daughter the other day that pharmaceutical drugs always have side effects. That’s one reason I don’t take any—and if I have to, then I always make pharma meds a last resort. My health plan is to always go with the least toxic option first, because it can’t hurt.
Try some new self-care techniques. Speak loving and kind words to your body. The cells of your body are listening! And it can’t hurt.
My self-care tip: When you go to the bathroom, give yourself a foot massage! Cross one leg over the other and massage your foot including your toes! Switch legs and repeat on the other side. If you work involved standing all day, I bet you’ll thank me for this tip! And if you sit all day, this re-establishes blood flow. It can’t hurt.
Hug yourself. Hug someone everyday. And put your hands together when you pray. It connects the circuits—our circuitry. It can’t hurt.
Sound and light therapies can ease tense muscles, relieve headaches, and improve many ills. Look for some of these to try. It can’t hurt.
Whenever you have a minor health issue, reach for your essential oils, Renew28, ASEA, CBD oil, or other health supplement. Sometimes I find I have the solution to whatever ails me, in my bathroom cabinets! And it doesn’t hurt to apply most of these remedies in new ways—consult your trusted holistic health team for advice if you’re unsure.
Measure & Track your progress
Measure and monitor yourself. Save some money and coach yourself. Yes, I know a personal trainer can show you the proper form and ways to exercise, but once you learn the basics, all they do is motivate you by measuring your weights and time. And you can do that for yourself. Same with personal coaches too.
Write 3 things down on a whiteboard that you want to improve about your life. Assign a number from 1-10 how you feel about each of those things. Give yourself a date by which to accomplish the change you desire. Figure out what steps you need to take to achieve those results. Break the goal into bite-size, measurable chunks, and stay focused on reaching your goal by reminding yourself why you want to change. You got this. And it can’t hurt to try it for yourself before you hire someone else to coach you. You may find that you were more capable than you thought!
Trying to lose weight? Try intermittent fasting. Also a form of detoxing, fasting for 12-16 hours a day or skipping a dinner every other day, has worked for me. And fasting can be especially wonderful for women over 40 (as it resets the metabolism). It can’t hurt to give it a try.

Stress impacts us before we know it.

Well, what we do is help our brilliant clients naturally attract their dream clients, so they are less stressed and actually are able to love what they do again!

Be the best version of who you want to be and let us promote you!
As a (mind, body, spirit, and soul) holistic health researcher, I can point you to life-enhancing alternative health methods too! So, if you’ve beat a chronic health challenge by alternative, integrative, or other natural remedy I’d love to hear about it. Send me an email and keep in touch.
The influx of emails, yes, including all the stuff we subscribe to, can become unmanageable, even unwieldy at times.
I have a couple of tips on how to cut down on this glut of information, and bring more ease into your life.
First, think about and consider how much time you spend sifting through emails, reading, and responding. Become aware of that for a few minutes. Awareness is key.
Next, take advantage of the search feature with your email program. Search for specific senders and if you notice they send you more than one email a week, unsubscribe from them.
No one person or business should inundate you with that many emails. Some, when you go to unsubscribe, provide an option to limit sending more than one a week, or roll up daily emails into a weekly summary. If you love them and don’t wish to unsubscribe, at least limit them to once a week.
Yes, you can reduce the time you read scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and others. Turn off the notifications.
If you don’t want to miss a comment someone made on something you posted, go to your own page or profile and scroll through everything YOU have posted.
It can be physically and emotionally draining to keep up with all your friends and followers. Find some balance in all of that.
I have recently unfollowed almost all of my followers on Facebook and changed my settings to see family posts first. However, I still get notifications–even from unfollowed friends! I have a love hate relationship with Facebook, I really do. See my previous post as to why I had quit it years ago.
I rejoined to feel closer to faraway family and friends, and stayed when I started a remote job. Now, my husband and I are launching a new business. However, whenever I feel engulfed by the drama of it, I set new boundaries.
I tweet sporadically, and it doesn’t seem to have the near addictive hold over me that Facebook does, hence the stronger I need to be when it comes to how much I check it.
Don’t worry if no one “Likes” your post or tweet either, because really, you can’t say the wrong thing to those who love you. ❤️😉
I have paid for so many classes in my life, I can’t even tell you! Not inly college classes, but online courses, seminars, and summits. Many PDFs, ebooks, video links, and resource materials reside on our computer hard drive or on the “cloud” unopened, because I don’t have time to study or watch them.
I’ve made a fresh commitment to myself not to buy one more, until I open and finish the ones I already own. I’m not a procrastinator, but allowing things like this to pile up, sure makes me feel like one!
For example, Mindvalley offers an excellent bundle of classes from vetted and well-respected teachers, trainers, authors, and leaders. Yet, I must stick to my new rule and follow my gut. I am not subscribing.
My goal this year is to watch all the digital and online summit materials and videos that I have bought.
Last year, I set an intention to read one book a month. I completed 4.
This year, I intend to finish 4 books I have in progress and 5 that I was gifted or won in 2019 (Thank you, Wellness Universe!) Some are quite lengthy, while others are short, and one I have used as a reference for years, but never read cover to cover.
My strategy, over the last few years, has been that when I finish reading a physical book, I give it away. We live in an RV and I can’t deal with much clutter.
If one of these books interest you, post a comment and I will mail it to you when I’m done.
Here’s my list in no particular order:
Living Pain Free With Acupressure by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad
Emissary of Light by James F. Twyman
Messages from Your Angels by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.
Write to Heal by Linda Goldman
A Life to Die for by David D McLeod, D.D.,Ph.D.
Letting Go So You Can Thrive by Moira Hutchison
Live with the Lights On by Katy Bray
Seth Speaks by Jane Roberts
Our Bodies: The Optimal Design by Elizabeth Norlin
I have about 100 PDF books, ebooks, and books on Kindle to read though. And seeing all of those when I open the folder on our computer for a reference (because I do a lot of health and wellness research), overwhelms me. I think I an reaching my saturation point!
Should I buy a tablet or Kindle dedicated to reading these? I had one years ago and rarely used it. Thanks to technology, I have a Kindle reader app, and others that afford the capability of reading via my iPhone.
Everyone seems to be a coach these days, and many of us have more than one!
Coaching can be very helpful at times, even if only to remind us and validate information we already know, inspire us, or hold us accountable to do what we say we want to accomplish. Is it any wonder we pay more for coaching these days? By investing more, we feel we’ll really stick to it “this time.” Ugh!
We can make our own lists though, organize goals on a calendar or whiteboard, mark tasks completed on a spreadsheet, planner, or app, and set timers on our phones to self-motivate though. Why must we pay money and have someone look over our shoulder to get things done? Yes, I get it. There’s a psychological component involved.
At any given time, many of us have a personal trainer, life coach, massage therapist, hair stylist, and so on. And if you own a business, you have more of these! (Think business coach, certified public accountant (CPA) or tax advisor, financial advisor, attorney, etc.)
See if you can streamline the number by seeking multi-faceted coaches–because remember, you receive advice and suggestions from all of these well-intentioned professionals!

So, after working out for 12 sessions with a personal trainer, Michael Slotin, I figured out several ways to get my workouts done at home. Good thing too, because we’ll be moving in a few weeks and I will lose my “in person” access to my trainer anyway.
Thank you, Michael Slotin at Fitness Therapy in Cocoa Beach, Florida!
Plus, after visiting another gym, I am not comfortable going to a place full of fit people or highly muscular types. I know how that sounds, and while I am sure they are all wonderful and nice people, I am in my late 50s and don’t feel like I connect. Please feel free to comment and help me improve my mindset about that, as I don’t want to think age limits any of us!
Anyway, here’s the list I have put together for my home workouts, and maybe it will help someone else too!
Remember to speak (verbally or mentally) to the body while working out because the cells listen to us. Also, visualize the movements and outcome you desire pre-workout.
Use Energy Medicine techniques first, to prepare the body for movement.
Walking (swing the arms with the elbow bent)
Calf raises on a stair or other solid and stable object
Leg curls laying with belly on the floor while wearing ankle weights and gripping resistance bands (though I was up to 160 lbs of weight for these on the MedX machine and I doubt I could find ankle weights of that weight! Haha!)
Leg extensions using Pilates techniques while wearing the same ankle weights and holding a resistance band, though again, I was up to 200 lbs for this exercise on the MedX machine. As an alternate way to get this leg work in, a timed slow standing squat, counting to 10 on the way up, and counting to 5 on the way down for 2 minutes is working well for me!
Standing hamstring stretch by crossing the feet and bending at the waist til head reaches the front knee. Place chair in front for balance. Keep knees straight.
Standing thigh stretch holding each foot (one at a time) with the same hand (right hand on the right foot) and pulsing back 10 times while standing by our kitchen island for balance support.
Figure 8 thigh raises to loosen hips and increase hip flexibility.
Tricep and bicep arm work using 20 pound weight dumbbells.
Inner thigh squeezes, seated, with one Yamuna ball between the knees.
Inner arm squeezes using one Yamuna ball between elbows.
Crunches on my back while squeezing both Yamuna balls between knees and elbows.
Hip raises while lying on back on the floor.
Note: Squeeze the pelvic floor muscles while lifting any weights and doing the hip raises.
Lift weights up to the point of muscle exhaustion every other day (for the same muscle), so as not to overtrain.
Note: See Adam’s comment in the comments section.
Will continuous participation in physical activities promote longevity?
Regular exercise will slow the aging process down without spending much money. A good exercise program you follow regularly is one of the best ways to lose weight, reduce muscle loss, spare bone density, and prevent or slow any form of heart and cholesterol-related disease.
Drink 2 ounces of ASEA post workout to aid faster muscle recovery, improve performance, and reduce soreness.
Drink plenty of pure water after working out. Aim for half your body weight in total ounces of pure water, (or unsweetened tea or clear broth) each day to flush fat and toxins from the body. Remember, that there’s water in fresh raw vegetables too!
And get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
If you are a health coach, or are into the healing arts, please join my private group!
As we are on our individual health journey, we are not alone. This private group is a place to ask questions, and exchange open and honest feedback.
Most of us are healers, health practitioners, researchers, writers, or health coaches. We are here to help.
I am grateful for your participation.
You can invite anyone to the group who is seeking better health. But especially those who are people open to believe in miracles. ❤️🙏
Some of the leaders we learn from in this group are:
“One of the weakest areas in most American’s bodies is their core, which leads to all kinds of back pain and poor movement patterns. Since I started @crossfitconjugate I now do multiple core workouts every week which I subconsciously avoided before just because it’s not always fun😂😊☹️. Even 10-15 mins a day can change your life for the better. This is a good one. Accumulate 2mins parallette hold above 3×45# plates.” Nathan Crane
Focused on holistic health and wellness since 2005, I continue to practice all the methods and use all the protocols that made a difference to improve my health and life. The bottom line is that when we help our cells repair and rejuvenate, the rest elegantly falls into place. Would you eat toxic, synthetic food? Not knowingly I bet. That’s why I promote non-toxic products, both for internal and external use.

Place your hands on your abdomen and as you inhale, see your hands and abdomen rise (or move outward). Direct your breath to the sides of your body so your ribs expand out. Your upper chest will rise last in this process.
Then, when you exhale bring your belly in first, then your ribs, and finally your upper chest.
Daily breathing like this (start with 5 minutes and increase the amount of time a little bit each day), benefits and heals the lungs.
This practice will increase the air capacity of the lungs.
Second, In the two hour Pranayama breathing workshop Dr. Ronald K. Porter joyously used story, music, dialogue, and meditation with each of us to explore the connect our breath (pranayama) and life vitality. After we did each breathing technique he asked each of us, how we felt in our body.
Drawing from Yogic, Buddhist, and Taoist traditions, Dr. Porter taught us 7 forms of pranayama and explore the numerous sensations produced in the body when we simply “be here now,” allowing ourselves to be in touch with our breathing.
During the class, my right knee was healed!! I loved the class so much that I started going to Dr. Porter’s yoga classes and invited friends to go too!
As well, Jeff Primack teaches Pranayama breathing, which is one of the best deep breathing practices one can master.
Here are two fantastic short videos about Pranic healing:
Counting breaths (inhale for a certain number, hold, exhale for a certain number–usually for longer than you inhaled)
Alternate nostril breathing
Why is breathing important?
Every breath grabs oxygen from the air and brings it into your lungs. Oxygen is absorbed by the hemoglobin in blood and pumped (primarily by your heart) throughout the trillions of cells in your body. If you hold your breath for a minute you’ll begin to turn blue. This should convince anyone that oxygen is vital to the cells in your body.
Alternate nostril breathing can (at least temporarily) relieve high blood pressure.
Mind-body exercises, at their core, help us to focus on our breath, help us relax (the mind and body), ease stress by releasing pent up tension, increase feelings of worthiness and belonging (by connecting different parts of the body with our breath), improve our physical flexibility and stamina, and bring balance back to the body.
Don’t discount natural remedies because you haven’t heard about them from your doctor, as often the experts disagree on what can help us.
Continue to explore other techniques and be sure to comment!
The day after Beau (our beloved 14 year old male Shih-Tzu) crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I realized our morning walk (when I’d do my walking meditation) could become my regular sitting meditation practice time.
I knew I could honor Beau (during my meditation time) by sitting with a blanket in the spot where he had made his transition to the “beyond”. Also, I could place the two small stuffed animals (my loving husband had given me years ago) near me, to sort of represent our kids with fur, Beau and Lou-Lou. Two little stuffed representatives to comfort me somehow.
To center oneself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually within your being
To nurture self and enhance well-being
To take note of thoughts
To expand the space between thoughts – which sharpens one’s focus over time and makes the mind serviceable
To allow self to connect with God – our LIMITLESS Ever-Living Filling-All-Space Creator. (More about that connection here.)
My meditation time is priceless to me.
After taking structured meditation classes, I realize that I’ve always meditated, just not in any structured way. I have learned methods from Dr. Alison J. Kay and a MeetUp group, and I continue to learn.
A couple of weeks into my new sitting meditation routine, I visited Alania Starhawk’s crystal shop and studio in Largo, FL (Alania also runs a MeetUp group) and I was drawn to two wonderful “sister” crystals, which I brought home and proceeded to incorporate into my meditation seating arrangement.
Beginning to meditate
When I begin my actual meditation, I set a timer next to me (UPDATE: I was right, after two months, I did not need the timer).
I settle and relax my body into a comfortable position with my legs crossed.
I envision the light from the sister crystal next to my left foot, entering my body in a spiral fashion, clicking into place all of the gears or points of connection on each chakra wheel (beginning with the root/red chakra, sacral/orange, solar plexus/yellow (always visualizing a sun rise), up into the heart/green chakra (where everything grows from the sun and filters out as love to all in my community, city, county, state, country, continent, and world), then blooming into the throat/blue chakra, and continuing to the purple third-eye chakra, where levers and switches get flipped up or down, and re-calibrate as necessary whatever needs to be accurately tuned, through the very essence and into the center of my body, aligning my spine, reaching out through the light of the other sister crystal in my right hand, and finally, connecting with Limitless Creator Source Energy God via my crown chakra (top of my head).
Then, I naturally come out of my meditation with a word, or phrase from the Divine.
When Beau passed, I wanted a pillow with a picture of him on it, but it took me awhile to figure out the picture and how to obtain it.
One day, I looked at the beautiful Awakened Fibers wall hanging in our bedroom and realized who I’d ask. I reached out to Mary Ann Pickard, owner of Awakened Fibers — and she was more than happy to create my Beau pillow! I commissioned her to make one pillow for me and one for my granddaughter (who also loved Beau, often asking to see him when we’d Skype or Google Hangout).
Once the pillows were finished, I met Mary Ann to pick them up. I was elated! She had lovingly designed and created such extraordinary pillows! So much detail, like the hidden zipper (so Jennie wouldn’t catch herself on it), along with super neat trim (blue cording on mine / frilly lace on Jennie’s) — really artistically crafted!
Upon returning home, I immediately sensed that I would use my new “Beau pillow” during my meditation.
My yellow shirt is from India Artisans in Sarasota – located right next door to the Crystal Cave (another crystal shop I love and highly recommend).
I did stair climbing meditation five days a week for more than two years. I used that time to de-stress from my tasks, stretch, practice Jin Shin Jyutsu, pray, and even practice Pilates and other movements to build and tone my body. I gained much calm during that time.
My sitting meditation is something I really look forward to each morning though. It’s a quiet, tranquil time where I feel totally nurtured and supported by All There Is. A time where the walls of “me” melt away and allow me to become ONE with All There Is, know and feel exceedingly that, We Are All Connected.
You don’t need to have “things” around you when you meditate – but I have found that for now, these are pleasing to me and anchor me to my little piece of heaven on earth.
You can actually meditate with your eyes open! Just pick a point to focus on. Also, clearing your mind isn’t the goal. The goal (over time with consistent practice) is to make the mind serviceable.
You can use a phrase instead of a word. You can try walking meditation if sitting annoys you. The point is to observe and detach. Notice who (or what) is thinking the thoughts and let each gracefully float away.
Oh, and no spirituality is required. OM
UPDATE April 2019:
My morning routine has changed. Now, I mentally say, “Thank you.” Then before I get out of bed, I do this actual breathwork (yes, with this link):
Then, before brushing my teeth I look in the bathroom mirror, look into my eyes and say out loud, “Thank you mom and thank you dad for creating me”! (As both are in the Grand Beyond now). And then shower, dress, and do some yoga, Pilates, and/or Qigong. And I take my ASEA.

Yes, this is a huge topic.
Florida state regulations
Did you know the state of Florida has not licensed any naturopathic doctors since 1959? But there are doctors who promote natural ways for you to be healthy and beautiful—practicing as acupuncturists, doctors of Oriental Medicine, chiropractors, or anti-aging specialists. And they are practicing right here in sunny Florida.
I like naturopaths because they treat the whole person – which, by the way, is why they call it “holistic” medicine (holistic means whole). They treat your mind, body, and soul / spirit. They do not just prescribe a pill for your symptom. They get to know you and what makes you tick (and what makes you sick). The naturopathic physician will work as a detective to get to the root cause of your individual situation, illness, pain, etc. I now know that some naturopaths must practice under another type of license – such as acupuncture.
Author Kris Carr, who wrote “Crazy Sexy Cancer” suggests putting together your own team of functional medicine doctors. I agree with her that we need to research the doctors and interview them.
This is one reason I am still working on a book about my healing journey from asthma. I believe each of us facing a health situation should take it upon ourselves (empower yourself) by using online information to aid in your research and learn about your particular issue. Do your due diligence then visit the doctor, meet him or her first, ask questions, then decide if they will provide the treatment to cure your particular situation. If not, keep seeking and interviewing others until you have a team of experts to help you heal.
Ways to heal
As for why this is a loaded topic. There’s a trend I hope grows and becomes more important as years go by. Holistic, alternative, and complimentary medicine. Acupuncture and naturopathic physicians, along with chiropractors, lead the way in this movement. They have all encouraged me to speak to others about my health recovery.
I reversed asthma in my body several years ago and was able to completely stop taking five pharmaceutical medications. Mainstream medicine would say that I have been asymptomatic (meaning I’ve had no asthma symptoms) since 2005. And because of legal mumbo jumbo I’m not allowed to tell you how I did it without providing a “disclaimer” (since I’m not a physician or other kind of licensed health care practitioner).
I can tell you my health quest began by visiting an acupuncture physician, Joan Massey, at HealthQuest Wellness Center in Titusville, Florida. I’d seen chiropractors most of my life so that was a piece of the puzzle I’d always had in place for chronic issues. (Joan has since moved to South Carolina so I’ve included a link to her – click on her name above or see the links at the end of the article).
I knew, just like all of you know, that eating vegetables was important. My mom, just like your mom, had told me since I could remember to “eat my veggies” with dinner. But until I found an acupuncture physician who went way above and beyond, providing me with whole raw food advice, I did not know what an amazing journey I was on.
While receiving massage I asked my LMT at Health Quest, Dory Valentine, if she knew of a naturopath. That’s when I was led to Dr. Anita Spitz. Though not a naturopath Dr. Spitz is a mainstream medical doctor who believes in treating the whole person and uses drugs and surgery as last resort measures (because pills all have side effects and only treat symptoms). I wish more physicians were like Dr. Spitz. She excels at educating her patients. Dr. Spitz is always learning, open to find tools and modalities that help their patients.
I learn from every doctor I see. I ask questions and take notes. Oh and I blog. haha!
If you watch Dr. Oz or read his advice online you know he also promotes a healthy diet for your health and beauty. I’ve also been accumulating a list of doctors who believe the same. Not all of them are naturopaths, but as with Dr. Spitz and Dr. Oz some allopathic doctors know eating right is vitally important to your health.
Conventional medical doctors sadly, do not do much to promote it for a variety of reasons. Mostmedical doctors only had ONE CLASS in nutrition during their TEN YEARS of medical school education!!
Most people are lazy. I’m sure traditional doctors have often told their patients to “eat healthy” only to have their patients ask for a pill. Most folks want to eat anything, indulge in their cravings, and just take a pill when they have a problem. Very few really understand the phrase, “you are what you eat.”
But, there is hope. Some people want to change. Some, like one of my coworkers, will watch, “Food Matters” – then ask me, “what are you eating”? I love those kinds of people – they want to take responsibility for their health. They know “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
